Yu Aoi, Yuko Takeuchi, Chieko Matsubara and Tsutomu Yamazaki cast in movie “A Long Goodbye”

Yu Aoi, Yuko Takeuchi, Chieko Matsubara and Tsutomu Yamazaki are cast in movie “A Long Goodbye” (literal title). The movie revolves around an elderly father (Tsutomu Yamazaki) who has Alzheimer and his wife (Chieko Matsubara) and daughters (Yu Aoi and Yuko Takeuchi). The film is based on 2015 novel “Nagai Owakare” by Kyoko Nakajima (“The Little House“) and directed by Ryota Nakano (“Her Love Boils Bathwater“). In addition, a teaser trailer for the upcoming is added on AsianWiki.

“A Long Goodbye” will be released sometime this May in Japan.

Main trailer for movie “Children’s Restaurant”

Main trailer for movie “Children’s Restaurant” (literal title of “Kodomo Shokudo”) starring Kanata Fujimoto and Rio Suzuki. The film is directed by Taro Hyugaji (“Under The Nagasaki Sky“) and original screenplay written by Shin Adachi (“100 Yen Love“). The movie follows 5th grader Yuto Takano (Kanata Fujimoto) and his family who runs a restaurant. Yuto Takano then meets two girls who live with their father in a car. The girls father then disappears.

“Children’s Restaurant” will be released March 23, 2019 in Japan.

Teaser trailer & poster for live-action film “The Great War of Archimedes”

Teaser trailer & poster added for live-action film “The Great War of Archimedes” staring Masaki Suda, Hiroshi Tachi and Minami Hamabe. Movie is based on manga “Archimedes no Taisen” by Norifusa Mita (“Dragon Zakura“) and directed by Takashi Yamazaki (“The Eternal Zero“). Caption on the teaser poster states in Japanese “This is the story of a man who tries to stop the war with mathematics.”

“The Great War of Archimedes” is now scheduled for release July 26, 2019 in Japan.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi cast for lead role in movie “Typhoon Family”

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi is cast for the lead role in movie “Typhoon Family” (literal title). Also cast in supporting roles are Hirofumi Arai, Megumi, Tomoya Nakamura, Machiko Ono, Mahiru Coda, Erika Osanai, Ryuya Wakaba, Rumi Sakakibara and Tatsuya Fuji. The film is written and directed by Masahide Ichii (“Blindly in Love“). Story for “Typhoon Family” revolves around four siblings played by Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Hirofumi Arai, Megumi and Tomoya Nakamura as they hold a fake funeral for their missing parents so they can divide up their property. Their parents robbed a bank 10 years ago and then disappeared. Filming for “Typhoon Family” took place July, 2018 in Sano, Tochigi Prefecture and Fujioka, Gunma Prefecture.

“Typhoon Family” will be released June, 2019 in Japan.

Kanata Hosoda & Nagisa Sekimizu cast in live-action film “The World of Machida-kun”

Kanata Hosoda & Nagisa Sekimizu are cast in live-action film “The World of Machida-kun” (literal title). The film is based on manga “Machida-kun no Sekai” by Yuki Ando and directed by Yuya Ishii. Kanata Hosoda will play lead male character Hajime Machida and Nagisa Sekimizu will play lead female character Nana Inohara. They were both cast after going through auditions with about 1,000 contestants taking part. Cast in supporting roles are: Takanori Iwata (“J Soul Brothers”/”EXILE”), Mitsuki Takahata, Atsuko Maeda, Taiga, Sosuke Ikematsu, Erika Toda, Koichi Sato, Yukiya Kitamura and Nanako Matsushima.

“The World of Machida-kun” will be released June 7, 2019 in Japan.

Teaser trailer for movie “A Gambler’s Odyssey 2020” starring Takumi Saito. Movie is based on novel “Mahjong Horoki” by Takehiro Irokawa and directed by Kazuya Shiraishi. Just announced for the film are supporting cast members Momo (Charan Po Rantan), Becky, Koji Matoba, Taiiku Okazaki, Masami Horiuchi, Masao Komatsu and Naoto Takenaka.

“A Gambler’s Odyssey 2020” will be released April 5, 2019 in Japan.

Sayuri Yoshinaga & Yuki Amami cast in movie “Way To Find The Best Life”

Sayuri Yoshinaga & Yuki Amami are cast in movie “Way To Find The Best Life” (literal title of “Saiko no Jinsei no Mitsuke Kata”). The film is a remake of 2007 U.S. movie “The Bucket List” starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. Isshin Inudo (“Josee, the Tiger and the Fish“) will direct the film. In the film, Sayuri Yoshinaga will play housewife Yukie Kitahara and Yuki Amami will play wealthy businesswoman Mako Goda. They are both diagnosed with a terminal disease and they decide to carryout the bucket list of a 12-year-old girl.

“Way To Find The Best Life” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan
