Teaser trailer and poster for movie “Undercurrent” starring Yoko Maki, Arata Iura, & Lily Franky. Movie is based on manga series “Undercurrent” by Tetsuya Toyoda and directed by Rikiya Imaizumi (“Little Nights, Little Love“). Caption on the teaser poster states “Lying to live is a sin?” The film revolves around a wife (Yoko Maki) and a private detective (Lily Franky) looking into the disappearance of her husband. A man played by Arata Iura enters her life at that time.

“Undercurrent” will be released October 6, 2023 in Japan.

Toshiaki Karasawa & Yoko Maki cast in NTV drama “Voice II”

Toshiaki Karasawa and Yoko Maki are cast in NTV drama series “Voice II.” The drama series is a sequel to 2019 NTV drama series “Voice,” which is a remake of 2017 OCN drama series “Voice” starring Jang Hyuk & Lee Ha-Na. Toshiaki Karasawa and Yoko Maki will reprise their characters of Detective Shogo Higuchi and Emergency Call Center Leader Hikari Tachibana.

“Voice II” will air from July, 2021 in Japan (takes over NTV’s Saturday 10PM time slot after “Life’s Punchline“).

Tatsuya Fujiwara & Yoko Maki cast in Fuji TV drama series “School Police”

Tatsuya Fujiwara and Yoko Maki are cast in Fuji TV drama series “School Police.” The drama series features an original screenplay written by  Tetsuya OishiJunpei Yamaoka, & Soichiro Ojima. Setup for the drama series has Tokyo implementing a new police system for middle schools. Detective Ryuhei Shimada (Tatsuya Fujiwara) takes part in the school police program and is assigned to work at Akamine Middle School. Yoko Maki will play Japanese language teacher Ryoko Asamura, who works at Akamine Middle School.

“School Police” first airs January, 2021 (takes over Fuji TV’s Tuesday 9PM time slot after “Our Sister’s Soulmate“).

Toshiaki Karasawa & Yoko Maki cast in NTV drama series “Voice: 110 Emergency Control Room”

Toshiaki Karasawa and Yoko Maki are cast in NTV drama series “Voice: 110 Emergency Control Room” (literal title). The drama series is a remake of 2017 OCN drama series “Voice” with Jang Hyuk and Lee Ha-Na in the lead roles. Taro Otani & Mitsuru Kubota will direct the drama series and the series will be scripted by Hideya Hamada.

For the NTV drama series version, Yoko Maki will play Hikari Tachibana. She has a special hearing ability and she uses that talent while working in the 110 emergency phone call center. Toshiaki Karasawa will play Detective Shogo Higuchi. They work together to save people.

“Voice: 110 Emergency Control Room” first airs July, 2019 in Japan.

Yoko Maki cast in NHK drama special “Flaming Attorney”

Yoko Maki is cast for the lead role new NHK drama special “Flaming Attorney” (literal title of “Enjo Bengonin”). Also cast in supporting roles are Riisa Naka, Takanori Iwata, Amane Okayama, Hairi Katagiri, Rumiko Koyanagi, Ryudo Uzaki and Yukiyoshi Ozawa. In the drama special, Yoko Maki plays Miho Watarai. She works as an attorney and runs her office out of the second floor of her parents’ house. The drama special is directed by Tomochika Kasaura and scripted by Yumiko Inoue.

“Flaming Attorney” will air December 15, 2018 in Japan.

Trailer for movie “Yakiniku Dragon”

Trailer for upcoming movie “Yakiniku Dragon” starring Yoko MakiMao Inoue and Nanami Sakuraba. Movie is set in the 1970’s and follows a Korean family that emigrated to Japan. Yoko Maki, Mao Inoue and Nanami Sakuraba play sisters in the family. You’ll also see veteran Korean character actors Kim Sang-Ho and Lee Jung-Eun in the trailer. Movie is written and directed by Wishing Chong.

“Yakiniku Dragon” will be released June 22, 2018 in Japan.

More cast members announced for movie “Sunny: Tsuyoi Kimochi Tsuyoi Ai”

More cast members have been announced for upcoming movie “Sunny: Tsuyoi Kimochi Tsuyoi Ai.” The film is a remake of 2011 South Korean film “Sunny.” Now cast in the film to play main characters from their high school days are Elaiza Ikeda, Maika YamamotoMio Noda, Momoko Tanabe and Miu Tomita. Suzu Hirose was previously announced to play lead character from high school days Nami.

For the movie, Elaiza Ikeda will play Nana. She is beautiful and admired by Nami. Maika Yamamoto will play play high school student Serika (Yoko Maki plays adult character). Mio Noda will play high school student Yuko (Eiko Koike plays adult character). Momoko Tanabe will play high school student Kokoro (Rie Tomosaka plays adult character). Miu Tomita will play high school student high school student Ume (Naomi Watanabe plays adult character).

“Sunny: Tsuyoi Kimochi Tsuyoi Ai” is now set for release August 31, 2018 in Japan. Below are two still images from the upcoming film.

Yoko Maki, Mao Inoue, Nanami Sakuraba and Yo Oizumi are cast in movie “Yakiniku Dragon”

Yoko Maki, Mao Inoue, Nanami Sakuraba and Yo Oizumi are all cast in movie “Yakiniku Dragon.” The film is based on stage play “Yakiniku Doragon” written and directed by Wishing Chong and he also directs the movie version. The film centers around three daughters played by Yoko Maki, Mao Inoue and Nanami Sakuraba. Their father emigrated from South Korea and started the restaurant “Yakiniku Doragon” in Japan. Story is also set in the 1970’s and set around the Kansai region.

“Yakiniku Dragon” will be released sometime this summer in Ja;an.

Teaser trailer and teaser poster added for upcoming yakuza film “Korou no Chi” starring Koji Yakusho, Tori Matsuzaka and Yoko Maki. Movie is based on 2015 novel “Korou no Chi” by Yuko Yuzuki and directed by Kazuya Shiraishi. Story for “Korou no Chi” is set in Yokohama, Japan circa 1988. Two cops investigate a missing person case and competing yakuza groups are involved.

“Korou no Chi” will be released May 12, 2018 in Japan.
