First script reading & ep.1 air date for MBC drama “The Red Sleeve Cuff”

Ep.1 air date for MBC drama series “The Red Sleeve Cuff” (literal title), starring Lee Joon-Ho & Lee Se-Young, is now set for November 5, 2021 in South Korea. The drama series will air Fridays and Saturdays at 10PM following the conclusion of “The Veil.” Meanwhile, photos above are from the first script reading for the drama series, which took place May, 2021 at MBC Ilsan Dream Center. Lee Joon-Ho, Lee Se-Young, Kang HoonLee Deok-HwaJang Hee-Jin, and Seo Hyo-Rim all attended the first script reading. Lee Joon-Ho stated at the first script reading “I wanted to work with Lee Se-Young some day, so here I am. I am happy to get work with her now. The drama seems to have a special and different charm from the original novel. Please show a lots of love.”  Lee Se-Young also stated “I enjoyed the drama series script and the original novel so much. I prepared for the drama, hoping that I can express Deok-Im character more than Deok-Im of the original novel. After attending the script reading, I am looking forwards to having great teamwork.” Below are the first still images of Lee Se-Young in the drama series.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Set in the 18th century, “The Red Sleeve Cuff” depicts a love story between King Jeongjo and royal concubine Uibin Sung.

Sung Deok-Im is a court lady. She gets involved with Crown Prince Lee San and he falls in love with her. The crown prince eventually becomes King Jeongjo. He now desires Sung Deok-Im to become his concubine, but she refuses. Sung Deok-Im wants to live her life freely, something that will not be possible as a concubine. She also knows that life of a royal concubine does not generally bring about happiness. Yet, Sung Deok-Im becomes the concubine of King Jeongjo.
