Lead character descriptions and plot update added for tvN drama series “100 Days of Lies” (literal title) starring Kim You-Jung and Jin Young. Drama series is set in the 1930’s, when South Korea was under Japanese rule. Kim You-Jung will play elite pickpocket Lee Ga-Gyeong. She is recruited by Yoo So-Ra (Kim Hyun-Joo), a sniper for a Korean independence group, to take part in an assassination attempt on Shinichi Sato (Jin Sun-Kyu) the general director of Joseon. She infiltrates the government as an interpreter trainee for 100 days and meets Shinichi Sato’s adopted son Kim Tae-Woong (Jin Young). He is an interpreter. Lee Mu-Saeng plays Yoo Philip, who works as a correspondent for a U.S. news agency and is also a member of the independence group.
“100 Days of Lies” will air sometime in the second half of this year in South Korea.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Set in the 1930’s, when Korea was under Japanese rule, Lee Ga-Gyeong (Kim You-Jung) is talented pickpocket in the capital city of Gyeongseong. Her life goal is move to the United States and she desperately saves money to achieve her goal.
One day, she receives an irresistible offer from Sniper Yoo So-Ran (Kim Hyun-Joo) of the anti-Japanese organization Gugukdan. The group includes members like Gyeongseong correspondent Yoo Philip (Lee Mu-Saeng), who works for a U.S. news agency. The Gugukdan are attempting an assassination of Shinichi Sato (Jin Sun-Kyu), a Director General of the Government-General of Chosen.
Lee Ga-Gyeong becomes a spy for the rebel group and she infiltrates into the Government-General of Chosen as an interpreter trainee for 100 days. There, she meets Kim Tae-Woong (Jin Young). Kim Tae-Woong is an adopted son of Shinichi Sato and a newly appointed elite interpreter for the Government-General of Chosen. He is fluent in English, Japanese and Korean.
