Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “The Boy and the Dog” starring Fumiya Takahashi and Nanase Nishino. Movie is based on short story collection “Shonen to Inu” by Seishu Hase and directed by Takahisa Zeze (“The 8-Year Engagement“). Caption on the teaser poster states “The dog traveled 3000km from Tohoku to Kyushu, over a 5 year period, just to meet the boy.”
“The Boy and the Dog” is now set for release March 20, 2025 in Japan.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: 6 months after the earthquake disaster in Sendai City, Kazumasa Nakagaki (Fumiya Takahashi) is a young man who has lost his job. He encounters a dog, with the name of Tamon on its dog tag, who lost its owner in the earthquake disaster. Kazumasa Nakagaki decides to take Tamon in and the dog becomes attached to him and his family, but Tamon always seems concerned about something in the south direction. One day, while Kazumasa Nakagaki is involved in a dangerous incident, Tamon disappears. Later, in Shiga, Tamon is with Miwa Sugai (Nanase Nishino) who has a sad secret. Kazumasa Nakagaki reunites with Tamon and they start a new life together. Nevertheless, Tamon heads south, because Tamon has a promise it wants to keep to a boy.
