Kai Inowaki, Honoka Matsumoto, & Ikusaburo Yamazaki cast in movie “Musicophilia”

Kai Inowaki, Honoka Matsumoto, & Ikusaburo Yamazaki are cast in movie “Musicophilia.” The film is based on 2011-2012 webcomic “Musicophilia” by Akira Saso and directed by Masaaki Taniguchi (“Signal“). Kai Inowaki will play lead character Saku Urushibara. He has a special talent for music, but has held an inferiority complex due to the success his father and his half-brother. He then becomes immersed in the world contemporary classical music. Filming for the movie took place in Kyoto, Japan from October to November, 2020.

“Musicophilia” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Saku Urushibara (Kai Inowaki) is a young man with a special ability to understand sounds in nature. He also hears sounds from shapes and colors of things. His father is a prominent composer and his younger half-brother is a genius music composer. Due to the success achieved by his father and half-brother, Saku Urushibara has an inferiority complex. He tries to keep away from music because of this, but he enrolls at the University of Arts in Kyoto. There, he enters the world of contemporary classical music.
