Akira Terao and Tori Matsuzaka cast in movie “Chichi to Boku no Owaranai Uta”

Akira Terao and Tori Matsuzaka are cast in movie “Chichi to Boku no Owaranai Uta.” The first teaser trailer for the movie has also been added on AsianWiki. The film is inspired by the true story of 79 year father Ted McDermott and his son Simon McDermott. The son uploaded videos of his himself and his father, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s three years earlier, singing songs together while driving in a car in 2016. In the movie version, Akira Terao will play Tetta Mamiya. He is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Tori Matsuzaka will play his son Yuta Mamiya.

“Chichi to Boku no Owaranai Uta” will be released May 23, 2025 in Japan.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Tetta Mamiya (Akira Terao) dreamed of making his recording debut as a singer, but he gave up that dream for his son Yuta Mamiya (Tori Matsuzaka). Now, Tetta Mamiya runs a musical instrument shop in Yokosuka. He is a humorous and popular man, who occasionally sings on a local stage in Yokosuka. One day, Tetta Mamiya is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The only things that keeps him cognizant is his son Yuta Mamiya, his wife Ritsuko Mamiya (Keiko Matsuzaka), his friends and the music that he loves. The only time Tetta Mamiya returns to his true self is when he sings his favorite songs.
