Rie Miyazawa, Machiko Ono, Yu Aoi, and Suzu Hirose are cast in Netflix drama series “Asura.” The drama series is a remake of 1979 NHK drama series “Asura no Gotoku” and award winning director Hirokazu Koreeda will direct the Netflix remake version. The drama series will revolve around four adult sisters who learn that their father has a mistress and a child born out of wedlock. In addition, the first teaser trailer for the drama series has been added at AsianWiki.
“Asura” will be available to stream from January 9, 2025.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: The Takezawa family includes four daughters. Eldest daughter Tsunako (Rie Miyazawa) works as a flower teacher and has done so since her husband’s death. Second daughter Makiko (Machiko Ono) is a full-time housewife. Third daughter Takiko (Yu Aoi) works as a librarian and the youngest daughter Sakiko (Suzu Hirose) works at a cafe as a waitress. On a winter day in 1979, the four daughters gather together for the first time in quite a while. According to Takiko, she believes that their father Kotaro is having an affair and cheating on their mother Fuji. His mistress even has a child who was fathered by Kotaro. Even though it is hard for the other sisters to believe that, they promise to keep it a secret from their mother. However, due to this disturbance, various conflicts and secrets hidden in their daily lives are revealed.
