See list of nominees & winners at the 59th BaekSang Arts Awards

See list of nominees and winners at the just concluded 59th BaekSang Arts Awards. The Grand Prize in the movies section went to “Decision to Leave” directed by Park Chan-Wook and the Grand Prize in the drama series section went to Park Eun-Bin for her perforamance in ENA drama series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo.” Netflix drama series “The Glory” also picked up “Best Drama,” “Best Actress” (Song Hye-Kyo), and “Best Supporting Actress” (Lim Ji-Yeon).

Teaser trailer & poster for movie “The Roundup: No Way Out”

Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “The Roundup: No Way Out” starring Ma Dong-Seok, Lee Joon-Hyuk, and Munetaka Aoki. The film is a sequel to 2017 movie “The Outlaws” and 2022 movie “The Roundup.” Story for “The Roundup: No Way Out” will have Ma Suk-Do (Ma Dong-Seok) joining a new crime investigation unit. There, he tries to catch Joo Sung-Cheol (Lee Joon-Hyuk) and Riki (Munetaka Aoki). Both of these men are involved in drug cases.  Caption on the teaser poster states “Sweep Away.”

“The Roundup: No Way Out” will be released May 31, 2023.

Main trailer for movie “Dream”

Main trailer added for movie “Dream” starring Park Seo-Joon & IU. Movie is written and directed by Lee Byeong-Hun (“Extreme Job“). The trailer shows Park Seo-Joon as hot tempered professional soccer play Yoon Hong-Dae. He gets into trouble after hitting a reporter. To repair his image, he takes part in a documentary produced by Lee So-Min (IU). Yoon Hong-Dae ends up coaching a team of homeless people for the Homeless World Cup. Below are still images from the movie.

“Dream” will be released April 26, 2023 in South Korea.

Hwang Jung-Min, Zo In-Sung, & Jung Ho-Yeon cast in movie “Hope”

Hwang Jung-Min, Zo In-Sung, & Jung Ho-Yeon are cast in movie “Hope” (working title). The mystery-thriller film will be the fourth film directed by Na Hong-Jin (“The Chaser“). The film will be set around an isolated port town, where a mysterious existence is seen by residents and the mysterious existence attacks the residents. Hwang Jung-Min and Jung Ho-Yeon will play police officers in the town and Zo In-Sung will play a hunter.

Filming for “Hope” will begin in the middle of this year.

Main trailer and poster added for comedy film “Killing Romance” starring Lee Ha-Nee, Lee Sun-Kyun, & Gong Myung. Movie is directed by Lee Won-Suk (“How to Use Guys with Secret Tips“) and scripted by Park Jung-Ye (“The Beauty Inside“). Caption on the main poster states “There is no romance! Johnathan Na’s killing operation starts.”

“Killing Romance” will be released April 14, 2023 in South Korea.

Son Suk-Ku, Kim Sung-Cheol cast in movie “Troll Farm”

Son Suk-Ku, Kim Sung-Cheol, Kim Dong-Hwi, and Hong Kyung are cast in movie “Troll Farm” (working & literal title). The crime drama film has Son Suk-Ku playing Reporter Im Sang-Jin. He looks into a tip he received about a troll farm. Members of the troll farm are played by Kim Sung-Cheol, Kim Dong-Hwi, and Hong Kyung. Movie is written and directed by Ahn Gooc-Jin (“Alice In Earnestland“).

Filming for “Troll Farm” began March 6, 2023.

Main trailer & poster for movie “Soulmate”

Main trailer and poster added for movie “Soulmate” starring Kim Da-Mi and Jeon So-Nee. Movie is directed by Min Yong-Keun, whose last feature film “Re-encounter” was released in 2010. Filming for “Soulmate” took place April, 2020. Captions in the main trailer states (0:15) “17 years old, we shined the most,” (0:21) “27 years old, I miss you,” (0:37) “We are close because we are different,” (0:39) “We are estranged, because we are different,” (1:01) “When we shined the most,” (1:04) “We were together.”

“Soulmate” will be released March 15, 2023 in South Korea.

Song Joong-Ki & Choi Sung-Eun cast in movie “My Name is Loh Kiwan”

Song Joong-Ki & Choi Sung-Eun are cast in Netflix distributed movie “My Name is Loh Kiwan.” The film follows a North Korean defector, played by Song Joong-Ki, who tries to live in Belgium. There, he meets and falls in love with a woman played by Choi Sung-Eun. Also cast in the film for supporting roles are Jo Han-Chul, Kim Sung-Ryoung, Lee Sang-Hee, & Seo Hyun-Woo.

“My Name is Loh Kiwan” will be available to stream on Netflix, but exact release date has not yet been determined.
