Miki Nakatani is cast in new WOWOW drama series “Kataomoi.” The drama series is based on 2001 novel “Kataomoi” by Keigo Higashino. In the drama series, Miki Nakatani will play Mitsuki Hiura. Her character was a former manager for an American-style university football team. During the team’s reunion, teammates and former staff members learn she now lives as a man and she confesses to having killed someone.

Teppei Arita and Tsubasa Honda are cast in live-action TBS drama series “Wanitokagegisu.” The drama series is based on manga “Wanitokagegisu” by Minoru Furuya. It’s the first time Teppei Arita from comedy duo ‘Cream Stew’ will play a lead character in a drama series.
Atsushi Ito & Yua Shinkawa are cast in NTV drama series “Nou ni Sumaho ga Umerareta.” The unusual premise for the drama series has Atsuhi Ito playing main character Keita Orimo. He works at a an apparel company and carries a flip phone. One day, his brain picks up smartphone like abilities and he can see things like text message balloons flying by. With his new abilities, he gets involved with problems at work. Yua Shinkawa will play Yanako Ishino. She works as a contract pattern maker at the same apparel company.

Emi Takei is cast in upcoming TV Asahi drama series “Black Leather Notebook” (literal title). The drama series is based on 1983 novel “Kurokawa no Techo” by Seicho Matsumoto. TV Asahi previously adapted the novel into 2004 drama series “Black Leather Notebook” starring Ryoko Yonekura. In drama series “Black Leather Notebook,” Emi Takei will play main character Motoko Haraguchi. Her character embezzles 180 million yen from a bank to open a nightclub in Ginza.

Matsuya Onoe is cast in TV Tokyo-Netflix live-action drama series “Saboriman Kantarou.” The drama series is based on manga series “Saboriman Ametani Kantarou” by Tensei Hagiwara & Abidi Inoue. Story for “Saboriman Kantarou” follows salesman Kantarou Ametani played by Matsuya Onoe. While he does his job well, he secretly skips out on his job to go eat sweets. It’s also Matsuya Onoe’s first time to act for a lead role in a drama series.

Sota Fukushi and Haruna Kawaguchi are cast in new NTV drama series “I Love You, But I Have a Secret” (literal title of “Aishite tatte, Himitsu wa Aru”). The drama series is based on an original screenplay by Sayaka Kuwamura (“A Girl & Three Sweethearts“) and directed by Hayato Kawai. Story for the drama has Sota Fukushi playing law school student Rei Okumori. He holds a dark secret which is that he killed his father who was abusive to his mother. He meets Sawa Tachibana (Haruna Kawaguchi) at his law school and wants to marry her, but he begins to receive messages from someone that knows his secret. Honami Suzuki will play Rei’s mother Akiko Okumori and Kenichi Endo will play the father of Sawa Tachibana who is a lead public prosecutor.

English subtitled trailer added for movie “Her Sketchbook” (English title) starring Mugi Kadowaki & Takahiro Miura. Movie is written and directed by Masaya Ozaki. In movie “Her Sketchbook,” Mugi Kadowaki plays main character Masami Konuma. Her character is a hikkimori and otaku. After not leaving her house for years, her father finally finds her a job at a video gaming company. It turns out she is also quite gifted in drawing manga.

Comedian/actress Naomi Watanabe is cast in new TBS live-action drama series “Kanna-san.” The drama series is based on manga series “Kanna san!” by Kahoru Fukaya and screenplay adaptation by Magi. In the drama series, Naomi Watanabe will play Kanna Suzuki. Her character works as a fashion designer and is married to a handsome man. Things get difficult for her after she learns her husband is having an affair and she kicks him out of their house. Kanna Suzuki must now juggle her job and raising her son alone.

Kento Nagayama and Nao Omori are cast in upcoming TV Tokyo drama series “Izakaya Fuji.” The drama series is based on 2015 novel “Izakaya Fuji” by Keisuke Kuriyama. For the drama series Kento Nagayama will play aspiring actor Eiichi Nishio. One day, Eiichi Nishio walks by the restaurant Izakaya Fuji and recognizes the establishment from social media pictures. He decides to go in and comes across other actors including Nao Omori.

Ryo Nishikido & Mayu Matsuoka are cast in new NTV drama series “My Husband Can Not Work” (literal title). The drama series is scripted by Chiho Watanabe and directed by Toya Sato and Naoko Komuro. The drama series will have Ryo Nishikido playing Tsukasa Kobayashi. He seems like the perfect husband, but he holds a secret from his wife. His secret is that he is horrible at his job and he wants to quit. He then learns that his wife played Mayu Matsuoka is pregnant.
