Fumiya Takahashi and Nanase Nishino cast in movie “The Boy and the Dog”

Fumiya Takahashi and Nanase Nishino are cast in movie “The Boy and the Dog” (literal title). The film is based on 2020 short story collection “Shonen to Inu” by Seishu HaseĀ and directed by Takahisa Zeze. The film’s screenplay adaptation will also incorporate original story elements. Over the course of several years, the film will follow a dog named Tamon and his influence on several different owners that take him in.

“The Boy and the Dog” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: 6 months after the earthquake disaster in Sendai City, Kazumasa Nakagaki (Fumiya Takahashi) is a young man who has lost his job. He encounters a dog, with the name of Tamon on its dog tag, who lost its owner in the earthquake disaster. Kazumasa Nakagaki decides to take Tamon in and the dog becomes attached to him and his family, but Tamon always seems concerned about something in the south direction. One day, while Kazumasa Nakagaki is involved in a dangerous incident, Tamon disappears. Later, in Shiga, Tamon is with Miwa Sugai (Nanase Nishino) who has a sad secret. Kazumasa Nakagaki reunites with Tamon and they start a new life together. Nevertheless, Tamon heads south, because Tamon has a promise it wants to keep to a boy.
