Trailer and poster for movie “Living in Two Worlds”

Trailer and poster added for movie “Living in Two Worlds” starring Ryo Yoshizawa. The English title of the movie refers to the main character Dai Igarashi played by Ryo Yoshizawa, who grew up as a CODA (child of deaf adults) and grew up in two different world. The film is based on the 2021 autobiographical essay “Ro no Ryoshin kara Umareta Boku ga Kikoeru Sekai to Kikoenai Sekai wo Ikikishite Kangaeta 30 no Koto” by Dai Igarashi and directed by Mipo O (“The Light Shines Only There“). Caption on the poster states “Feelings that can’t be conveyed are overflowing.”

“Living in Two Worlds” will be released September 20, 2024 in Japan.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Dai Igarashi (Ryo Yoshizawa) was born to deaf parents in a small port town in Miyagi prefecture and he grew up being loved by his parents. Since he was little, he acted as an interpreter for his mother. This was a normal and enjoyable part of his daily life, but he gradually became embarrassed and irritated by people considering him special. He even grew to dislike his mother’s cheerfulness. At the age of 20, he leaves for Tokyo to escape … but.:
