Teaser trailer and posters added for movie “Lumberjack The Monster” starring Kazuya Kamenashi, Nanao, & Riho Yoshioka. The film is based on 2019 novel “Kaibutsu no Kikori” by Mayusuke Kurai and directed by Takashi Miike (“Shield of Straw“). The film follows a lawyer played by Kazuya Kamenashi, who lacks having empathy for others, as he becomes the target of a masked serial killer who uses an ax to steal his victim’s brain.
“Lumberjack The Monster” will be released December 1, 2023 in Japan.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: A bizarre, but bloody serial murder case takes place. The murders seem to be influenced by the picture book “Kaibutsu no Kikor.” The serial killer wears the mask of the “Lumberjack Monster” and attacks his victims’ with an ax to take their brains. The serial killer’s next target becomes Lawyer Akira Ninomiya (Kazuya Kamenashi). The lawyer is unusual in that he lacks empathy for others. He is also a cold-blooded and heartless person and carries the traits of a psychopath. Other people become involved in the case including Profiler Ranko Toshiro (Nanao), Akira Ninomiya’s fiance Emi Hasumi (Riho Yoshioka), Dr. Kuro Sugitani (Shota Sometani) and past murder case suspect Takeshi Kenmochi (Shido Nakamura). The case needs to be solved like a puzzle, including finding out why the serial killer takes the victim’s brain and why the next target was chosen. Akira Ninomiya must work to solve this puzzle to save his own life.
