Movie is based on 2017 novel “Ginga Tetsudo no Chichi” by Yoshinobu Kadoi and directed by Izuru Narushima (“To Each His Own“). The teaser trailer begins with Koji Yakusho introducing himself as “Kenji Miyazawa’s father, I’m Masajiro.”
“Ginga Tetsudo no Chichi” will be released May 5, 2023 in Japan.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Masajiro Miyazawa (Koji Yakusho) owns and runs a pawn shop for generations. His first son is Kenji Miyazawa (Masaki Suda) and his daughter is Toshi Miyazawa (Nana Mori). Kenji Miyazawa is supposed to take over the pawn shop as the first son, but he refuses to take over the store. Masajiro Miyazawa is soft on his son. Meanwhile, Toshi Miyazawa is smart and wise. She gives advice to her father and her older brother. One day, Toshi Miyazawa gets sick.
