Ji Soo and Seohyun to make cameo appearance in MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Ji Soo and Seohyun (‘Girls’ Generation’) are set to make cameo appearances in currently airing MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” starring Lee Sung-Kyung & Nam Joo-Hyuk. Their cameo appearances are to give support to Nam Joo-Hyuk whom they worked with previously in just concluded SBS drama series “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.”

Filming for Ji Soo and Seohyun’s cameo appearances have already been completed. Ji Soo will appear in ep.11 which will air December 21, 2016 and Seohyun will appear in ep.12 which will air December 22, 2016.

Lee Jong-Suk in MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Here’s photos of Lee Jong-Suk filming a scene in upcoming MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” starring Lee Sung-Kyung & Nam Joo-Hyuk.

Lee Jong-Suk’s makes a cameo appearance in “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” due partially to his friendship with Lee Sung-Kyung who belongs to the same management company (YG Entertainment), production company Chorokbaem Media having producing drama series “W” and now “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo,” as well as the drama series airing on MBC where “W” did as well. For his cameo appearance, Lee Jong-Suk will play a customer who goes to the chicken restaurant run by Bok-Joo’s (Lee Sung-Kyung) father. Filming for this scene took place on October 15, 2016 at an outdoor set in Nowon, Seoul, South Korea.

Meanwhile, still images above are of Lee Sung-Kyung from a scene in the upcoming drama series. The scene was filmed on October 9, 2016 at a gym in Korean National University of Physical Education. Setup for the scene has Kim Bok-Joo (Lee Sung-Kyung) training in weightlifting. To prepare for her role in the drama series, Lee Sung-Kyung has been training in weightlifting for the past 2 months.

First script reading for MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

First script reading for MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo,” starring Lee Sung-Kyung & Nam Joo-Hyuk, took place August, 2016 at MBC Broadcasting Station in Sangam, South Korea. The drama series is based on the true story of female weightlifter Jang Mi-Ran.

Lee Sung-Kyung and Nam Joo-Hyuk cast in MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Lee Sung-Kyung and Nam Joo-Hyuk are now cast for lead roles in upcoming MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo.”

In the drama series, Lee Sung-Kyung will play title character Kim Bok-Joo. Kim Bok-Joo is in the 2nd year of college, majoring in physical education, and belongs to the school’s weightlifting team. She is friendly. Meanwhile, Nam Joo-Hyuk will play Jung Joon-Hyung. His character is also a 2nd year student at the same school attended by Kim Bok-Joo. Jung Joon-Hyung belongs to the swimming team. He suffers from a trauma after being disqualified for an illegal start.

In addition, Kim Jae-Hyun (’N.Flying’) is cast in a supporting role. Kim Jae-Hyun will play Joon-Hyung’s junior on the swimming team. “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” first airs this November in South Korea.

Nam Joo-Hyuk offered lead male role in MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Nam Joo-Hyuk has been offered the lead male role in upcoming MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo.” Actress Lee Sung-Kyung has already been offered the lead female role in the drama series. Both performers are currently “positively considering” their offers.

If Nam Joo-Hyuk accepts, he will play Jung Joon-Hyung. His character is an excellent, but unlucky swimmer. Jung Joon-Hyung and weightlifter Bok-Joo (Lee Sung-Kyung if she accepts) graduated from the same school. Interesting to note, Nam Joo-Hyuk’s character in KBS2 drama series “Who Are You: School 2015” was also a swimmer.

“Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo” will first air this November in South Korea.

Lee Sung-Kyung offered lead role in MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo”

Lee Sung-Kyung has been offered the lead female role in upcoming MBC drama series “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo.” Currently, she is “positively considering” the offer. The drama series is motivated by the true story of weightlifter Jang Mi-Ran. If Lee Sung-Kyung accepts her offer, she will play title character Kim Bok-Joo. Her character is a 20-year-old weightlifter and falls in love for the first time.
