Teaser trailer & poster for movie “Blue, Painful, and Brittle”

Teaser trailer and poster added for movie “Blue, Painful, and Brittle” (literal title) starring Ryo Yoshizawa and Hana Sugisaki. The film is based on 2018 novel “Aokute Itakute Moroi” by Yoru Sumino (“Let Me Eat Your Pancreas“) and directed by Shunsuke Kariyama (“Humanoid Monster, Bem“). Caption on the poster states in Japanese “She died …I do not forget.” The movie’s theme song has also been revealed, which is “Yumemigusa” by rock band Blue Encount

In addition, newly announced supporting cast members are: Amane Okayama, Honoka Matsumoto, Hiroya Shimizu, Nana Mori, Mizuki Kayashima, Ken Mitsuishi, and Tasuku Emoto.

“Blue, Painful, and Brittle” will be released August 28, 2020 in Japan.

Ryo Yoshizawa and Hana Sugisaki cast in movie “Blue, Painful, and Brittle”

Ryo Yoshizawa and Hana Sugisaki are cast in movie “Blue, Painful, and Brittle” (literal title). The film is based on 2018 novel  “Aokute Itakute Moroi” by Yoru Sumino (“Let Me Eat Your Pancreas“). Shunsuke Kariyama (“Humanoid Monster, Bem“) directs the film and the screenplay adaptation is be written by Noriaki Sugihara (“Sadako“). For the film, Ryo Yoshizawa will play university student Kaede Tabata and Hana Sugisaki will play fellow university student Hisano Akiyoshi.

Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Kaede Tabata (Ryo Yoshizawa) is a university student with poor social skills. He meets Hisano Akiyoshi (Hana Sugisaki), who attends the same university. She seems to lack common sense and is also an idealist. She talks about ending wars and having no more bullies. Kaede Tabata & Hisano Akiyoshi have different personalities, but they are both outsiders. For their goal to change the world, they decide to make a secret club Moai. One day, Hisano Akiyoshi suddenly disappears. Their secret club Moai also changes. Moai becomes a club for job finders and the club gets larger. Kaede Tabata decides to leave the club, but he then decides to take back Moai for its original mission, dreamt up by himself and Hisano Akiyoshi.

“Blue, Painful, and Brittle” will be released August 28, 2020 in Japan.

Hana Sugisaki cast in NHK drama series “Ochoyan”

Hana Sugisaki is cast in NHK drama series “Ochoyan.” The drama series is NHK’s 103rd asadora or morning drama. The screenplay will be scripted by Hiroyuki Yatsu (“Naoki Hanzawa“) and directed by Yoshiro Nagikawa (“Hitomi“) & Makoto Bonkobara (“Carnation“). For “Ochoyan,” Hana Sugisaki will play actress Chieko Naniwa. The drama series is based on the life of actress Chieko Naniwa (November 19, 1907 – December 22, 1973). Filming for the drama series will begin April, 2020.

“Ochoyan” will first air (tentatively) September 27, 2020 in Japan (follows NHK’s asadora “Eru“).

Haru & Ryo Narita cast in movie “Yayoi, March: 30 Years That I Loved You”

Haru & Ryo Narita are cast for lead roles in romance film “Yayoi, March: 30 Years That I Loved You” (literal title). Also cast in supporting roles are Hana Sugisak,  Kenshi Okada, Yukiyoshi Ozawa and Hitomi Kuroki. The film is written and directed by Kazuhiko Yukawa. For Kazuhiko Yukawa, who has written many drama series screenplays, this is his second film as a director following 2017 movie “A Loving Husband.” Story for “Yayoi, March: 30 Years That I Loved You” spans 30 years and follows the love between two people who hid their feelings for each other. Meanwhile, the first teaser trailer has been added on AsianWiki.

“Yayoi, March: 30 Years That I Loved You” will be released March 20, 2020 in Japan.

Movie is based on short stories by Shuichi Yoshida (“Villain“) and directed by Takahisa Zeze. The movie’s theme song has also been revealed which is “Ichiru” by singer-actress Mone Kamishiraishi. Kanna Hashimoto cast in movie “12 Suicidal Teens”

Kanna Hashimoto is cast in upcoming movie “12 Suicidal Teens” starring Hana Sugisaki and Mackenyu Arata. Up until today’s accouncement, the identity of one of the 12 children in the movie was a mystery. For the film, Kanna Hashimoto will play Ryoko. She is one of the 12 boys and girls who meet up to die. Movie is based on 2016 novel “Jyuni Nin no Shinitai Kodomotachi” by Tow Ubukata and directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi. Meanwhile a new teaser/TV commercial spot featuring Kanna Hashimoto in the upcoming film has been added on AsianWiki.

Hana Sugisaki cast in TV Asahi drama series “Haken Uranaishi Ataru”

Hana Sugisaki is cast for the main character role in new TV Asahi drama series “Haken Uranaishi Ataru.” The drama series is scripted by Kazuhiko Yukawa and directed by Kazuhiko Yukawa and Ken Higurashi. Also cast in supporting roles are Yukiyoshi Ozawa, Mirai Shida, Shotaro Mamiya, Jun Shison, Maho Nonami, Yuka Itaya, Mayumi Wakamura and Mitsuhiro Oikawa. For the drama series, Hana Sugisaki will play 21-year-old Ataru Matoba. She begins her first job and she also has a secret ability: when she makes eye contact with people she can see their troubles or permanent memories.

Trailer and main cast announced for upcoming movie “Twelve Children Who Want to Die” (literal title). The movie is based on novel “Jyuni Nin no Shinitai Kodomotachi” by Tow Ubukata and directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi (“20th Century Boys“). The twelve main cast members are Hana Sugisaki, Mackenyu Arata, Takumi Kitamura (member of ‘Dish’), Mahiro Takasugi, Yuina Kuroshima, Wariko Akika, Ai Yoshikawa, Riku Hagiwara, Yuto Fuchino, Ryota Bando, Kotone Furukawa and Aisa Takeuchi. The film follows 12 kids who gather at an abandoned hospital to die, but they find the body of a boy already dead there. They try to find the killer.

“Twelve Children Who Want to Die” will be released January 25, 2019.
