First script reading for upcoming KBS2 drama series “The Sound of Heart” starring Lee Kwang-Soo and Jung So-Min took place March 24, 2016 at KBS Annex Broadcasting Station in Yeouido, South Korea. Lee Kwang-Soo, Jung So-Min, Kim Dae-Myung,Kim Byung-Ok, Kim Mi-Kyung and others all attended the script reading.
“The Sound of Heart” first airs sometime during the second half of 2016.
Fumika Shimizu & Yudai Chiba are cast in upcoming movie “Asahan no Yuge.” The movie is based on novel “Asahan no Yuge” by Fukami and directed by first time director Santa Yamagishi. Story for the movie has Fumika Shimizu and Yudai Chiba playing cousins who begin to live together for a summer in a rural town. Their relationship improves with the help of cooking by Yudai Chiba’s character.
Asahan no Yuge will be released July 2, 2016 in Japan.
KBS2 will air a three-part special of popular drama series “Descendants of the Sun” starring Song Joong-Ki & Song Hye-Ko. The special will air on April 20th, 21st and 22nd in South Korea. The special will feature highlight clips from the drama series on April 20th and 21st. The April 22nd episode will feature making of video clips from the drama series and an epilogue clip from the drama series.
“Descendants of the Sun” is currently the #1 rated television show during its prime time slot with ratings topping 30% the past two weeks. The three part special of “Descendants of the Sun” will push back the premiere of “Master: God of Noodles” to April 27, 2016 (from April 20, 2016) and the premiere of “Uncontrollably Fond” to July 6, 2016 (from June 29, 2016).
Actor Joo Won is cast in upcoming drama series “My Sassy Girl.” The drama series is based on popular 2001 romantic-comedy film “My Sassy Girl,” but set in a historical time period. The drama series is also expected to be Joo Won’s final acting role prior to enlisting in the South Korean military for approximately 21 months.
Filming for drama series “My Sassy Girl” will begin July, 2016, but it’s not yet determined which network will air the drama series. The drama series will also air in China and Japan at the same time frame.
Mizuki Yamamoto & Kei Inoo (‘Hey! Say! JUMP’) are cast in new live-action film “Peach Girl.” Movie is based on popular manga series “Peach Girl” by Miwa Ueda and directed by Koji Shintoku (“Rivers Edge Okawabata Detective Agency“). Mizuki Yamamoto will play main character Momo Adachi and Kei Inoo will play Kairi Okayasu.
“Peach Girl” is expected to be released sometime next year in Japan.
Park Hae-Jin is cast in new JTBC drama series “Man to Man.” In the drama series, Park Hae-Jin will play the bodyguard to a popular actor. His character is a mysterious man with versatile talents. No other castings has yet been revealed. The drama series is scripted by Kim Won-Suk (“Descendants of the Sun“).
Lee Jong-Suk & Han Hyo-Joo are now cast in upcoming MBC drama series “W.” For actress Han Hyoo-Joo, “W” will be her first role in a drama series since 2010 MBC drama series “Dong Yi.” Filming for “W” begins May, 2016 and the drama series is scheduled to first air July, 2016 in South Korea.
Teaser trailer added for upcoming KBS2 drama series “Master: God of Noodles” starring Chun Jung-Myung, Kong Seung-Yeon, Cho Jae-Hyun & Jung Yoo-Mi. Drama series is based on comic “Kooksooui Sin” by Park In-Kwon.
“Master: God of Noodles” first airs April 20, 2016 in South Korea.
Filming for upcoming movie “The Last Princess” (English working title), starring Son Ye-Jin & Park Hae-Il, finished March 23, 2016. Filming took approximately 4 months to finish and filming took place in South Korea and Japan. Story for “The Last Princess” takes place in the early 20th century, while Korea is under Japan’s occupation. Son Ye-Jin plays the last princess, Princess Deokhye. After she is taken against her will to Japan, she meets up with a Korean freedom fighter played by Park Hae-Il. Actress Son Ye-Jin previously worked with movie director Hur Jin-Ho in 2005 film “April Snow.”
“The Last Princess” will be released sometime during the second half of this year in South Korea.
Actor Park Hae-Jin has been offered to reprise his role from tvN drama series “Cheese in the Trap” for upcoming movie version “Cheese in the Trap.” If Park Hae-Jin accepts, he will play Yoo Jung again. Currently, Park Hae-Jin is “postively considering” the offer. Park Hae-Jin does have a condition that if he were to accept the role, he wants the original webcomic writer Soon Ggi to take part in the film. Movie version of “Cheese in the Trap” will be a joint production between South Korean and Chinese companies.
Currently, actress Kim Go-Eun, who played the lead female role in the tvN drama series version, has not been offered a role in the upcoming movie version. Seo Kang-Joon though was offered to reprise his role in the movie version two months ago and he has yet to make a final decision.
