Main trailer and poster added for upcoming film “Mitsu no Aware” starring Fumi Nikaido, Ren Osugi & Yoko Maki. The film is based on novel “Mitsu no Ahare” by Saisei Muro and directed by Gakuryu Ishii (“Isn’t Anyone Alive?“). Premise for the film centers around a reddish goldfish who is able to change into a girl (Fumi Nikaido), a writer (Ren Osugi) and the ghost (Yoko Maki) of a woman the writer once knew.

Here’s the first still image Shun Oguri in upcoming live-action film “Terra Formars” directed by Takashi Miike. The still image is of a scene with Ko Honda (Shun Oguri) meeting candidates to become crew members including Shokichi Komachi (Hideaki Ito). The backdrop of the streets in Japan have turned into a slum due to the disparity between the rich and poor. Meanwhile, the selected crew members will make a trip to Mars to take out giant mutated cockroaches that are able to walk.

Actresses Tsubasa Honda & Mizuki Yamamoto are cast in movie “Girls” (literal title). The film is based on the novel “Shojo” by Kanae Minato (“Confessions“) and directed by Yukiko Mishima (“Bread of Happiness“). Premise for the film follow two girls who volunteer for the summer at a paediatrics ward and a nursing home. The girls volunteer in hopes of seeing a person’s death. They have their own reasons why. “Girls” will be released sometime during this fall in Japan.
Teaser trailer added for movie “Cherry Blossom Memories” starring Maika Yamamoto & Koudai Asaka. Movie is based on the vocaloid song “Sakura no Ame” by halyosy and directed by Atsushi Ueda (“School Girl’s Gestation“). “Cherry Blossom Memories” had its world premiere at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival and will have its general release March 5, 2016 in Japan.
Teaser poster added for upcoming movie “Distraction Babies” featuring the battered face of Yuya Yagira. Movie also stars Masaki Suda, Nana Komatsu & Nijiro Murakami and directed by Tetsuya Mariko (“Yellow Kid“). Release date for “Distraction Babies” is now targeted for sometime in May, 2016 in Japan.

Hiroshi Abe, Kirin Kiki & Yoko Maki are all cast in movie “Umi Yorimo Mada Fukaku.” The movie is written and directed by Hirokazu Koreeda (“Like Father, Like Son”). Story for the film revolves around Ryota (played by Hiroshi Abe) and his family of ex-wife (Kyoko), mother (Kirin Kiki) and 11-year-old son (Taiyo Yoshizawa). They all gather at the apartment of Ryota’s mother when a typhoon passes and they all must spend the night there.
“Umi Yorimo Mada Fukaku” will be released May 21, 2016 in Japan.
Main trailer for Shunji Iwai‘s “The Bride of Rip Van Winkle” starring Haru Kuroki, Gou Ayano & Cocco. “The Bride of Rip Van Winkle” is currently scheduled to be released in South Korea (tentatively mid-March, 2016), Hong Kong and Taiwan before its premiere in Japan on March 26, 2016.
Kaho Mizutani is cast in horror film “Valentine Nightmare.” The movie is based on a horror game developed by Ivory Dice and directed by Yasumasa Konno. Premise for the film has high school students on a graduation trip. They become haunted by the spirit of a classmate who committed suicide on Valentine’s Day, one year ago. The students must overcome their fears and find out the truth about what happened one year ago.
“Valentine Nightmare” will be released sometime January, 2016 in Japan.
