Alice Hirose is cast for the lead role in movie “Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite.” The film is based on 2020 novel “Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite” by Mio Nukaga and directed by Hitoshi Yazaki (“Strawberry Shortcakes“). For Alice Hirose, this will be her first lead character role since 2018 movie “Miko Girl.” In movie “Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite,” Alice Hirose will play a woman who is diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She opts to skip treatment and return to her island hometown. There, she meets a student who lost all emotions except for one due to a tragedy.
“Okiharu-kun no Namida o Koroshite” will be released October 2, 2026 in Japan.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Kiyoka Odoriba (Alice Hirose) is a music teacher diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. She was informed that she had a year left to live, but she refused to take treatment and returned to her hometown on an in island in the Seto Inland Sea.
There, she helps out at her grandmother’s cafe and instructs a choir at the high school where she graduated from. One of her choir students is Okiharu, who always smiles. Soon, she learns that Okiharu lost his family during a tsunami. She asks him why he always smiles and Okiharu replies that he lost all his emotions, like sadness and anger, when he was swept away in the tsunami except for joy. Due to an incident, Okiharu begins to regain a lost emotion and the mysterious daily life between Kiyoka Odoriba and Okiharu begins.
