Lee Joon-Gi is cast in Fuji TV-Channel A drama series “Kidnap Game” starring Kentaro Sakaguchi. The drama series is co-produced by production teams from Japan (Fuji TV), South Korea (Simstory), and Hong Kong (MakerVille). The screenplay will revolve around people from seven Asian cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Naha, and Manila. A family member from those cities are kidnapped and the victim’s family receive an email to participate in a survival game to save them. Only one person can be saved. Lee Joon-Gi will play Han Ki-Ju. He retired from his career as a surgeon, but, after his daughter is kidnapped, he takes part in the game to save her.
“Kidnap Game” will first air October, 2026.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Simultaneous kidnappings occur in seven cities: Tokyo, Seoul, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila and Naha. As the sensational news reports spreads, an email arrives at each of the victim’s family.
The email contains an invitation to a game and asks “How far are you willing to go to save your loved one? Only one can be saved.” People from seven different Asian cities, with different backgrounds, religion, and nationalities participate in the game. Each participant is given a different mission and they must complete their mission first to save their loved one.
Toshiro Niide (Kentaro Sakaguchi) is one of the 7 participants. He is a detective with a strong sense of justices and boasts a high arrest rate. His wife was his classmate back in their school days. As a married couple, they are busy, but live a happy life together. However, his wife was kidnapped and he is dragged into the game.
Han Ki-Ju (Lee Joon-Gi) is another participant in the game. He is a retired doctor from Seoul. During his medical career, he was considered a world-class surgeon, but, due to a personal reason, he left the operating room for good. While enjoying his peaceful life, his daughter was kidnapped and he is now dragged into the game.
