Shin Min-A, Ju Ji-Hoon, Lee Jong-Suk, & Lee Se-Young are cast in Disney+ drama series “The Remarried Empress.” The drama series is based on webnovel “Jaehon Hwanghu” by Alphatart and will be directed by Jo Soo-Won. Director Jo Soo-Won has previously worked with actor Lee Jong-Suk in 2013 SBS drama series “I Can Hear Your Voice” and 2014 SBS drama series “Pinocchio.” He also previously worked with actress Lee Se-Young in 2019 SBS drams series “Doctor John.” Story for “The Remarried Empress” lies squarely within in the fantasy-romance genre and set among two fictional kingdoms.
The first script reading for the “The Remarried Empress” took place May 13, 2025 and the drama series will first air sometime next year.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Navier (Shin Min-A) is the Empress of the Eastern Empire. She is praised for her intelligence and having an innate elegance. Her life as an empress is peaceful with her husband Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji-Hoon). She doesn’t love Sovieshu, but likes him as a friend and family. They spent most of their time together when they were little and share the same goal to create a great country. Her relationship with her husband changes after he brings a runaway slave, Rashta (Lee Se-Young) and she becomes his mistress. This break his promise to Navier that he will not have a concubine in his life.
Meanwhile, Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong-Suk) is the first heir to the throne of the Western Kingdom. His clan has a secret that they can transform into a bird. He, who has transformed into a bird, travels to the palace of the Eastern Empire to spy. There, he meets Empress Navier and falls in love with her.
Empress Navier of the Eastern Empire receives a divorce notice from her husband Emperor Sovieshu, who has fallen in love with Rashta. Instead of accepting the divorce, Navier asks for his permission so she can remarry Prince Heinrey of the Western Kingdom.
