Tomohisa Yamashita is cast for a co-lead role in Hulu live-action drama series “Drops of God” (working title). The drama series will be a co-production between Japan, U.S., and France. French actress Fleur Geffrie will play main character Kamille. She will take part in a wine tasting competition to win her late father’s valuable wine collection. Tomohisa Yamashita will play Issei Toomine. He is a well known wine critic and competes against Kamille in the wine tasting competition. The drama series is based on manga series “Kami no Shizuku” by Shin Kibayashi, but will substitute the manga’s main character, who is a Japanese man, with a French female character.
Filming for “Drops of God” will begin in France this month and will also take place in Italy and Japan. “Drops of God” will stream on Hulu sometime next year.
Plot Synopsis by AsianWiki: Alexandre Leger is the founder of a world famous red wine guide and an authority on wine. He dies at his home in Tokyo, Japan. He has one child, Kamille (Fleur Geffrier), but, after Alexandre Leger divorced when Kamille was 9-years-old, he has not seen his daughter.
Kamille hears about her father’s death and goes to Tokyo. There, she waits to hear about her father’s will. In his will, he stipulates that if Kamille wants to inherit his vast collection of wine, she has to compete against Issei Toomine (Tomohisa Yamashita) in a wine tasting competition. Issei Toomine is a wine critic and a former pupil of Alexandre Leger. If she wins in the wine tasting competition against him, Kamille will inherit her father’s highly sought-after wine collection.
