MBC drama series “Goodbye Mr. Black” to air March or April 2016

According to MBC, upcoming drama series “Goodbye Mr. Black,” starring Lee Jin-Wook, Moon Chae-Won, Song Jae-Rim & Kim Kang-Woo, will begin to air in either March or early April, 2016. “Goodbye Mr. Black” is based on comic “Goodbye Mr. Black” by Hwang Mi-Na which is itself inspired by French author Alexandre Dumas’s novel “The Count of Monte Cristo.”  “Goodbye Mr. Black” will air Wednesday and Thursday at 10PM. The MBC drama series preceding “Goodbye Mr. Black” has not yet been announced.

Lee Jung-Jae cast in Korean War film “Operation Chromite”

Actor Lee Jung-Jae is now cast in upcoming South Korean war film “Operation Chromite.” U.S. actor Liam Neeson and South Korean actor Lee Beom-Soo are already cast for the film. Movie “Operation Chromite” will be directed by John H. Lee.

Movie “Operation Chromite” follows U.S. General Douglas MacArthur (Liam Neeson) and 8 South Korean troop members as they take part in the covert “X-ray” operation. The “X-ray” operation proceeds the “Incheon Landing Operation” if successful.

Filming for “Operation Chromite” begins 2nd half of this year in South Korea.

Cho Hye-Jung cast in MBC every1 drama series “Imaginary Cat”

Actress Cho Hye-Jung is cast in upcoming MBC every1 drama series “Imaginary Cat” starring Yoo Seung-Ho. Drama series is based on webcomic “Sangsanggoyangi” by Kim Gyung.

In drama series “Imaginary Cat,” Cho Hye-Jung will play Oh Na-Woo. When her character was young, she lost her cat. Due to longing and guilt over her lost cat, Oh Na-Woo now takes care of street cats. She has a crush on Hyun Jong-Hyun (Yoo Seung-Ho).

“Imaginary Cat” first airs sometime this November in South Korea.

Kuranosuke Sasaki & Yu Yokoyama cast in movie “Expulsion”

Kuranosuke Sasaki & Yu Yokoyama from boy band “Kanjani Eight” are cast in new movie “Expulsion” (working and literal title). The film is based on 2014 novel “Hamon” by Hiroyuki Kurokawa and directed by Shotaro Kobayashi (“Kaasan Mom’s Life“). Novel “Hamon” is the recipient of the 151th Naoki Prize. Director Shotaro Kobayashi previously adapted Hiroyuki Kurokawa’s 2008 novel “Enka” into 2015 WOWOW drama series “Enka: Gold Rush.”

Story for “Expulsion” has a film producer who approaches a yakuza boss to invest in an upcoming movie project. The yakuza boss agrees to do so, but the film producer runs off with his money. Yakuza member Yasuhiko Kuwabara (Kuranosuke Sasaki) and construction consultant (Yu Yokoyama) attempt to recover the money.

“Expulsion” will be released sometime in 2017 in Japan.

Park Shin-Hye cast in movie “Older Brother”

Actress Park Shin-Hye is now cast in upcoming movie “Older Brother” (literal title) co-starring Cho Jung-Seok and Do Kyung-Soo (EXO-K). Movie is directed by Kwon Soo-Kyung (“Barefoot Kibong“) and screenplay by Yoo Young-A (“Miracle in Cell No.7“/”My Paparotti“).

In movie “Older Brother,” Park Shin-Hye will play a Judo coach who cares for Doo-Young (Do Kyung-Soo) like a real older sister. She also squabbles with Doo-Young’s older brother Doo-Sik  (Cho Jung-Seok).

Filming for “Older Brother” begins October 19, 2015 in South Korea.

Main trailer and poster added for horror film “The Inerasable”

Main trailer and poster added for upcoming horror film “The Inerasable” starring Yuko Takeuchi & Ai Hashimoto. Movie is based on 2012 novel “Zange” by Fuyumi Ono and directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura (“Fish Story“/”The Snow White Murder Case“).

“The Inerasable” will have its world premiere at this year’s Tokyo International Film Festival (October 22-31, 2015) and then its general premiere January 30, 2016 in Japan.

Juri Ueno, Lily Franky & Tatsuya Fuji cast in movie “Otousan to Itou-san”

Juri Ueno, Lily Franky & Tatsuya Fuji are all cast in new movie “Otousan to Itou-san.” The film is based on 2014 novel “Otousan to Itou san” by Hinako Nakazawa and directed by Yuki Tanada (“One Million Yen and the Nigamushi Woman“).

In movie “Otousan to Itou-san,” Juri Ueno plays Aya. She is in her 30’s, but her boyfriend (Lily Frankly) 20 years older than her. One day, Aya’s father (Tatsuya Fuji) begins to live with them.

“Otousan to Itou-san” will be released sometime next year in Japan.
