Kim Joo-Hyun is cast for upcoming SBS drama series “My Sassy Girl” co-starring Joo Won. Kim Joo-Hyun won the part after going through several rounds of auditions consisting of established actresses and newcomers. The drama series is a remake of 2001 movie “My Sassy Girl,” but set in the Joseon Dynasty era. Kim Joo-Hyun will play the sassy, trouble maker girl originally performed by Gianna Jun.
“My Sassy Girl” will first air sometime next year in South Korea.
Masataka Kubota & Fumika Shimizu are cast in live-action film “Tokyo Ghoul.” The film is based on manga “Tokyo Guru” by Sui Ishida and directed by Kentaro Hagiwara. Movie will be set in a Tokyo where the city is dealing with human eating ghouls. Masataka Kubota will play college student Ken Kaneki. His character is attacked by the ghoul Rize, but a steel beam that falls on Rize saves him. Ken Kaneki and Rize are then transported to the hospital and Ken receives an organ transplant from Rize. Ken then becomes half ghoul.
“Tokyo Ghoul” will be released sometime during summer, 2017 in Japan.
Haruka Ayase, Shinichi Tsutsumi & Gaku Hamada are cast in movie “Honnoji Hotel.” The movie will reunite Haruka Ayase, Shinichi Tsutsumi, director Masayuki Suzuki & screenwriter Tomoko Aizawa who previously worked together in 2011 film “Princess Toyotomi.”
In movie “Honnoji Hotel,” Haruka Ayase plays a woman who is staying at Honnoji Hotel in Kyoto. There, she meets legendary historical figure Nobunaga Oda (Shinichi Tsutsumi).
“Honnoji Hotel” will be released sometime next year in Japan.

Lee Dong-Gun and Jo Yoon-Hee are cast in upcoming KBS2 weekend drama series “Laurel Tree Tailors” (literal title).
In the drama series, Lee Dong-Gun will play lead male character Lee Dong-Jin. He is the only son of Wolgyesoo (‘Laurel Tree’) tailor shop – the oldest tailor shop in South Korea. Nevertheless, he doesn’t want to take over the store. He looks cold, but he is actually a warm person. Jo Yoon-Hee plays lead female character Na Yeon-Sil. She works at the tailor shop and wants to be the best garment cutter. She goes through a lot in her life, but is determined.
“Laurel Tree Tailors” first airs August 13, 2016 in South Korea (takes over KBS2’s Sat. & Sun. 8PM time slot after “Five Enough“).

First still cut from upcoming JTBC drama series “Age of Youth.” The still cut features main cast members Han Ye-Ri, Han Seung-Yeon (ex-Kara member), Park Eun-Bin, Hwa Young (ex-T-ara member) and Park Hye-Soo.

Actress Fumi Nikaido is cast in upcoming NTV drama series “Lost ID” (English title) co-starring Tatsuya Fujiwara.
In the drama series, Fumi Nikaido will play lead female role Sanae Kuramoto. Her character is the fiance of Shinichi Todo (Tatsuya Fujiwara). Soon, Shinichi Todo’s world comes crashing down as his identity suddenly disappears.
“Lost ID” will first air July 17, 2016 in Japan.

Filming for upcoming movie “Battleship Island” (literal title), starring Hwang Jung-Min, So Ji-Sub & Song Joong-Ki, began June 17, 2016 in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The first scene film involved Lee Kang-Ok (Hwang Jung-Min), who is the bandmaster at Kyungsung Hotel, asking for job in Japan.
“Battleship Island” is scheduled for release sometime during the first half of 2017 in South Korea.
