Actress Hwang Jung-Eum has been offered the lead female role in upcoming MBC drama series “Lucky Romance.” Currently Hwang Jung-Eum is “positively considering” the offer.
If Hwang Jung-Eum accepts the offer, she will play Bo-Nui. Her character learns from a fortune-teller that if she doesn’t sleep with a male virgin, born in the year 1986, she will die. Later, she finds out her landlord fits those conditions.
“Lucky Romance” will air from May 11, 2016 in South Korea (takes over the Wednesday and Thursday 10PM time slot currently held by “Goodbye Mr. Black“).
Actress Han Ye-Ri is cast in upcoming movie “Chunmong” directed by Zhang Lu. Story for the film has Han Ye-Ri playing a woman who runs a bar. There’s three men who are in love with her. The three men will be played by award winning directors Yang Ik-June, Yoon Jong-Bin & Park Jung-Bum. In addition, actress Shin Min-A will make a cameo appearance in the film. Shin Min-A previously worked with director Zhang Lu in 2014 film “Gyeongju.”
Filming for “Chunmoong” begins April, 2016 in South Korea.
Shori Sato (‘Sexy Zone’) and Kanna Hashimoto (‘Rev. from DVL’) are cast in movie “Haruchika.” Movie is based on popular mystery novel series “Haruchika” by Sei Hatsuno and will be directed by Masahide Ichii (“Blindly in Love“).
Story for “Haruchika” revolves around two childhood friends who are reunited in high school. They share interest in the wind instrument club, but the club is soon to be shuttered. The girl (played by Kanna Hashimoto) then recruits members of the wind instrument club to help them solve mystery cases at the school and also take part in a contest.
Filming for “Haruchika” begins next month in Japan.
Ahn So-Hee (ex Wonder Girls member) is cast in movie “Single Rider” starring Lee Byung-Hun and Kong Hyo-Jin. The film is directed by first time director Lee Joo-Young.
In movie “Single Rider,” Ahn So-Heee plays Ji-Na. Her character is a university student who travels to Australia on a working holiday visa. There she meets a Korean family. The husband fled South Korea after an investment scandal at his workplace.
Filming for “Single Rider” begins March 21, 2016 in Australia.
Satoshi Tsumabuki and Hikari Mitsushima are cast in new movie “Guko Roku.” Movie is based on 2006 novel “Guko Roku” by Tokuro Nukui and directed by Kei Ishikawa. Movie is the first film directed by Kei Ishikawa.
In mystery-suspense film “Guko Roku,” Satoshi Tsumabuki plays Tanaka. His character works as a reporter. He begins to investigate a year old unsolved murder case involving a family. Hikari Mitsushima plays Mitsuko who is Tanaka’s younger sister.
“Guko Roku” will be released sometime next year in Japan.
Ji Sung is now cast in upcoming SBS drama series “Entertainer.” Singer/actress Hyeri (“Girl’s Day”) is currently weighting an offer to play the lead female role. Actor Park Bo-Gum was first offered the lead male role, but he has declined.
In drama series “Entertainer,” Ji Sung will play Shin Suk-Ho. He previously ran the largest entertainment company, but he is now the CEO for a tiny start-up entertainment company. He has hit bottom because of the betrayal of those he worked for with for years.
“Entertainer” first airs April 20, 2016 in South Korea (takes over the Wednesday & Thursday time slot currently held by “Come Back Mister“).
Ryunosuke Kamiki is cast in upcoming live-action film “March Comes in Like a Lion.” Movie is based on manga series “San gatsu no Lion” by Chica Umino and directed by Keishi Ohtomo. Ryunosuke Kamiki and director Keishi Ohtomo previously collaborated in movies “Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno” and “Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends.”
Story for “March Comes in Like a Lion” features Ryunosuke Kamiki playing 17-year-old Rei Kiriyama. His character is a professional Japanese chess player and has been a professional since his middle school days. After interacting with his neighbors, including three sisters, Rei Kiriyama is able to grow as a chess player and person.
“March Comes in Like a Lion” will be released in two pars with the film seeing its release sometime in 2017.
