Masahiro Higashide, Sosuke Ikematsu and Masaki Suda are all cast in live-action film “Death Note 2016.” Movie is based on popular manga series “Death Note” by Tsugumi Ohba and directed by Shinsuke Sato (“Gantz“).
In movie “Death Note 2016,” Masahiro Higashide plays Tsukuru Mishima. His character is an investigator of the Death Note Special Task Force Headquarter Team. He has made a thorough investigation into the Kira case from 10 years ago. He is a Death Note otaku.
Sosuke Ikematsu plays private investigator Ryuzaki. His character is the rightful successor of L. He was born with L’s gene which L left before he died. He chases after the Death Note with Tsukuru Mishima.
Masaki Suda plays Yuki Shion. He is a cyber terrorist. His entire family was murdered by a crazy man and Yuki is the only survivor. Kira killed the crazed man who murdered his family. Since then, Yuki worships Kira as a god. He entices Tsukuru and Ryuzaki with his excellent hacking skills.
“Death Note 2016” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan.
Here’s the first still images of Onew from idol group ‘SHINee’ in upcoming KBS2 drama series “Descendants of the Sun” starring Song Joong-Ki & Song Hye-Kyo. In “Descendants of the Sun,” Onew plays Lee Chi-Hoon. His character is a first year resident in thoracic surgery. His character comes from a wealth family. Since he was in medical school, he hopes to follow in the path of medical-missionary Albert Schweitzer. He is happy to be sent to disaster areas as a member of the volunteer medical service team at Haesung Hospital.
“Descendants of the Sun” will first air February 24, 2016 in South Korea.

Movie had its world premiere at last year’s Busan International Film Festival. Story for the film revolves around 4 friends who take a trip to the beach for 1 night. One of the 4 friends is about to join the navy. At the beach, they see a woman being beaten by a man and they run to help her. Their lives are about to change forever.

Movie “A Cappella” is having its world premiere at the Goteburg Film Festival (January 29-February 8, 2016) and will have its general release March 26, 2016 in Japan.
Song Jong-Ho is cast in upcoming movie “Broker” (working title) which has already cast Kim Young-Kwang, Lee Sung-Kyung & Lim Ju-Hwan in leading roles. In the film, Song Jong-Ho will play Min-Joon. His character is a cold-blooded man who kills without emotion. Min-Joon is also a man of few words. Movie is directed by Kim Hong-Sun (“Traffickers“/”The Con Artists“).
Filming for “Broker” begins February 4, 2016.

Actress Sung Yu-Ri is cast in upcoming MBC drama series “Monster” which has already cast Kang Ji-Hwan and Park Ki-Woong. In drama series “Monster,” Sung Yu-Ri will play lead female character Cha Soo-Yeon. After her father’s death, she takes care of her younger brother who has autism. She tries to disclose the truth behind her father’s death with Kang Ki-Tan (Kang Ji-Hwan).
“Monster” first airs April 4, 2016 (takes over MBC’s Monday and Tuesday 10PM time slot after “Glamorous Temptation“).
Kenichi Matsuyama is cast in based-on-a-true-story film “Satoshi no Seishun.” The film is based on nonfiction novel “Satoshi no Seishun” by Yoshio Osaki. Movie will be directed by Yoshitaka Mori (“Space Brothers“) and screenplay adaptation by Kosuke Mukai (“Linda Linda Linda“/”My Back Page“). In the film “Satoshi no Seishun,” Kenichi Matsuyama will play shogi (Japanese chess) player Satoshi Murayama. Satoshi Murayama is eventually diagnosed with cancer and is advised to stop playing shogi, but he goes against his doctor’s wishes and continues to play.
“Satoshi no Seishun” will be released sometime this autumn in Japan.
