First script reading for upcoming tvN drama series “Let’s Fight Ghost,” starring TaecYeon (‘2PM’) & Kim So-Hyun, took place May 18, 2016 at CJ E&M Center in Sangam-dong, Seoul, South Korea. For the first script reading main cast members TaecYeon, Kim So-Hyun, Kwon Yool, Kim Sang-Ho & Kang Ki-Young were all in attendance.
Ep.1 air date for “Let’s Fight Ghost” is now set for July 11, 2016 in South Korea.
Main trailer added for movie “Long Excuses” starring Masahiro Motoki, Pistol Takehara, Eri Fukatsu & Keiko Horiuchi. Movie is written and directed by Miwa Nishikawa (“Dear Doctor“).
“Long Excuses” will be released October 14, 2016 in Japan.
Filming for upcoming movie “Night of 7 Years” (literal title), starring Jang Dong-Gun & Ryoo Seung-Ryong, finished May 25, 2016 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Filming took 6 months to finish. The movie is based on novel “7Nyeonui Bam” by Jung Yoo-Jung (“Shoot Me in the Heart“) and directed by Choo Chang-Min (“Masquerade“).
“Night of 7 Years” will be released sometime next year in South Korea.
Satoshi Ono (‘Arashi’) cast in movie “Shinobi no Kuni.” The film is based on 2008 novel “Shinobi no Kuni” by Ryo Wada and directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura (“The Snow White Murder Case“). The movie is a period film with Satoshi Ono playing a lazy, but elite shinobi (ninja). He kills a shinobi from another clan, which leads to a deadly war. Filming for “Shinobi no Kuni” begins this July and the movie will be released sometime during summer, 2017 in Japan.
Teaser trailer added for upcoming SBS drama series “Doctors” starring Kim Rae-Won & Park Shin-Hye. As mentioned in an earlier post today, the first teaser trailer was filmed on May 28, 2016. “Doctors” first airs June 20, 2016 in South Korea.
Gianna Jun and Lee Min-Ho are cast in new SBS drama series “The Legend of the Blue Sea” (working and literal title). The drama series will feature a fantasy-romance story scripted by Park Ji-Eun (“My Love From the Star“/”The Producers“) and directed by Jin Hyeok (“City Hunter“/”Master’s Sun“). The drama series will also be Lee Min-Ho’s last acting role before entering enlisting in the South Korean military for approximately 2 years and also Gianna Jun’s first acting role since she gave birth to a boy on February 10, 2016.
“The Legend of the Blue Sea” first airs November, 2016 in South Korea.
Actor Jung Woo is cast in new movie “Retrial” (literal title). The film is based on a real life incident that occurred on August 10, 2000 when a taxi cab driver was murdered. The police later arrested a 15-years-old boy for the crime and he confessed to the crime after undergoing extreme interrogation tactics by the police. The boy would go on to spend 10 years in jail. Jung Woo will play Lee Joon-Young. His character is the attorney who attempts to free the young man from prison and clear his name.
Meanwhile actor Kang Ha-Neul has been offered the role of the falsely accused young man and he is currently “positively considering” the offer. Movie will be directed by Kim Tae-Yoon & filming begins July, 2016 in South Korea.

First script reading for upcoming KBS2 drama series “Baek-Hee Has Returned,” starring Gang Ye-Won & Kim Sung-Oh, took place May 16, 2016 at KBS Annex Broadcasting Station in Yeouido, South Korea. The drama series consists of 4 episodes will take over the time slot currently held by “My Lawyer, Mr. Jo” and will then be followed by “Beautiful Mind.”
Emi Takei is cast in new TV Asahi drama special “Setouchi Shonen Yakyu dan.” The drama special is based on 1979 novel “Setouchi Shonen Yakyu dan” by Yu Aku. The novel was previously adapted into a 1984 movie of same name. Premise for the film is set after World War II. Emi Takei will play a teacher who decides to form a baseball team and becomes its coach to help inspire her students.
“Setouchi Shonen Yakyu dan” will air sometime this fall in Japan.
