Hiroshi Abe cast in movie “Shippu Rondo”

Hiroshi Abe is cast in upcoming movie “Shippu Rondo.” The movie is based on 2013 novel of same name by popular mystery writer Keigo Higashino and directed by Teruyuki Yoshida (“Japanese Salaryman NEO“).

Story for the film revolves around a stolen secret biological weapon from a university lab. Hiroshi Abe will play Kazuyuki Kuribayashi. His character works at the lab and he is tasked for a mission to retrieve the biological weapon. Filming for “Shippu Rondo” began February 24, 2016 and the movie will be released November 26, 2016 in Japan.

Trailer for live-action film “Shojo Tsubaki”

Trailer for upcoming live-action film “Shojo Tsubaki” starring Risa Nakamura & Shunsuke Kazama. Movie is based on manga series “Shojo Tsubaki” by Suehiro Maruo  and directed by Torico. The colorful and eccentric film revolves a young teen girl (Risa Nakamura) who joins a circus troupe and a young man with supernatural powers (Shunsuke Kazama) who also joins the circus troupe. Movie looks like it will appeal to fans of director Tetsuya Nakashima.

“Shojo Tsubaki” will be released May 21, 2016 in Japan.

Takumi Saito & Alice Hirose cast in movie “Something Blue”

Takumi Saito & Alice Hirose are cast in new movie “Something Blue.” Movie is based on novel “Something Blue” and directed by actor/director/screenwriter Takayuki Takuma. Story for “Something Blue” has Alice Hirose playing high school student Nozomi. Her character has a hearing disability and her mother always cut her hair, until she decides to go see a hairdresser for the first time. The hairdresser is played by Takumi Saito. Nozomi falls in love with the hairdresser, but she later learns that he has a fiance. Filming for the movie finished last autumn and took place in Enoshima Island, Kanagawa Prefecture.

“Something Blue” will be released July 2, 2016 in Japan.

Kentaro Sakaguchi & Miwa cast in movie “Kimi to 100 Kaime no Koi”

Kentaro Sakaguchi & Miwa are cast in romance-fantasy film “Kimi to 100 Kaime no Koi.” The movie that features characters traveling back in time is based on an original screenplay by Satomi Oshima (“My Darling is a Foreigner“) and directed by Sho Tsukikawa (“Kurosaki kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai“).

Story for the film has Miwa playing college student Aoi Hinata. She gets into an accident and wakes up a week earlier in class. Her longtime friend Riku Hasegawa played by Kentaro Sakaguchi reveals that he can turn back time. The two then go back in time 1 year and spend their days as boyfriend and girlfriend. There’s a secret about the time slip and also the day of the accident approaches again.

“Kimi to 100 Kaime no Koi” will be released February, 2017 in Japan.

Trailer added for live-action film “Moriyamachu Driving School” starring Shuhei Nomura & Kento Kaku. Movie is based on manga series “Moriyamachu Kyoshujo” by Keigo Shinzo and directed by Keisuke Toyoshima (“A Courtesan with Flowered Skin“). Story for the film has a high school student and a yakuza teen spending time at a driving school for the summer.

Masaki Suda cast in live-action film “Teiichi’s Country” (literal title). Movie is based on manga series “Teiichi no Kuni” by Usamaru Furuya. Movie is set sometime during the show period with Masaki Suda playing high school student Teiichi Akaba. His character aspires to become the prime minister and build his own country. Before he becomes the prime minister, he targets becoming his high school’s student council president. The position of student president at his prestigious high school bestows further privileges which makes the election highly competitive and a power struggle occurs.

Fumika Shimizu & Yudai Chiba are cast in upcoming movie “Asahan no Yuge.” The movie is based on novel “Asahan no Yuge” by Fukami and directed by first time director Santa Yamagishi. Story for the movie has Fumika Shimizu and Yudai Chiba playing cousins who begin to live together for a summer in a rural town. Their relationship improves with the help of cooking by Yudai Chiba’s character.
