Nobuyuki Suzuki and Hayato Isomura cast in NTV live-action drama series “Kyo kara Ore wa”

Nobuyuki Suzuki and Hayato Isomura are cast for supporting roles in upcoming NTV live-action drama series “Kyo kara Ore wa” starring Kento Kaku. They will also join already cast supporting members KentaroTaiga and Yuma Yamoto.

For the drama series, Nobuyuki Suzuki will play Satoshi Katagiri. He is a rival of Takashi Mitsuhashi (Kento Kaku) and Shinji Ito (Kentaro). Satoshi Katagiri is the most powerful student at a high school for troubled students. Hayato Isomura will play Takeshi Sagara. He is the second most popular student at the same high school where Satoshi Katagiri attends.

“Kyo kara Ore wa” first airs October, 2018 in Japan.

Shun Oguri cast in NHK drama series “Segodon”

Shun Oguri is cast in currently airing NHK taiga series “Segodon” starring Ryohei Suzuki. Shun Oguri will appear from episode 26 of “Segodon,” which is scheduled to air July 8, 2018. He will begin filming for the drama series from May, 2018. For “Segodon,” Shun Oguri will play real life historical figure Ryoma Sakamoto (January 3, 1836 – December 10, 1867). He aspired to help modernize Japan.

Supporting cast announced for drama series “Cheer Dance”

Supporting cast announced for upcoming TBS drama series “Cheer Dance” starring Tao Tsuchiya. Now cast in supporting roles are Anna Ishii (‘E-girls’), Yui SakumaMaika YamamotoAya Asahina, Karen Otomo, Yumena Yanai and Sara Shida. The 7 newly announced supporting cast girls will play members of the high school cheer dance club. The drama series is set at the same high school as the movie “Let’s Go, Jets,” which is based on a true story, but set several years after the movie version.

“Cheer Dance” first airs July, 2018 in Japan.

Tetsuji Tamayama is cast in NHK drama series “Bakabon no Papa yori Bakana Papa”

Tetsuji Tamayama is cast in new NHK drama series “Bakabon no Papa yori Bakana Papa.” Also cast in supporting roles are Manami Higa, Kyoko Hasegawa, Aoi Morikawa, Toru Baba and Mitsuko Kusabue. The drama series is based on autobiographical novel “Bakabon no Papa yori Bakana Papa” by Rieko Akatsuka. The novel revolves around her father who is a manga artist.

“Bakabon no Papa yori Bakana Papa” will first air June 30, 2018 in Japan.

Takako Tokiwa is cast in NHK live-action drama special “Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms 2018”

Takako Tokiwa is cast in NHK live-action drama special “Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms 2018.” The drama special is based on manga “Yunagi no Machi, Sakura no Kuni” by Fumiyo Kono. The manga was previously adapted into 2007 film “Yunagi City, Sakura Country” with Rena Tanaka cast in the lead role. Also cast in supporting roles in the NHK drama special are Rina Kawaei, Fuka Koshiba, Yuna Taira, Asuka Kudo, Yosuke Asari, Shosuke Tanihara, Shuuji Kashiwabara, Mitsuo Sagawa, Midoriko Kimura and Isao Hashizume. The drama special deals with the effects of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Takako Tokiwa plays Nanami Ishikawa in the present day. She follows her father to Hiroshima due to his unusual behavior. There, she learns about what happened to his older sister.

“Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms 2018” will air August 6, 2018 in Japan (anniversary date of the Hiroshima atomic bombing).

Teaser trailer #2 added for TBS live-action drama series “Boys Over Flowers Season 2” (“Hana Nochi Hare: Hanadan Next Season”) starring Hana Sugisaki, Sho Hirano and Taishi Nakagawa. The drama series is based on webcomic “Hana Nochi Hare: Hanadan Next Season” by Yoko Kamio, which is a sequel to popular manga “Hana Yori Dango.” Teaser trailer #2 shows actual footage from the drama series for the first time.

Teaser for TBS drama special “Complete Remission”

Teaser trailer added for TBS drama special “Complete Remission” starring Toshiaki Karasawa,  Atsuro Watabe and Mitsuhiro Oikawa. The drama special is based on 2017 novel “Gan Shometsu no Wana: Kanzen Kankai no Nazo” by Kazuma Iwaki. The novel won the 15th Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! Award. Story for “Complete Remission” falls in the genre of medical-mystery and revolves around patients diagnosed with terminal cancer, but after receiving their life insurance payments early … they miraculously recover.

“Complete Remission” airs April 2, 2018 in Japan.

Jiro Sato, Mai Shiraishi and Takayuki Yamada cast in TBS live-action drama series “Yareta Kamo Iinkai”

Jiro SatoMai Shiraishi (‘Nogizaka46’) and Takayuki Yamada are cast in TBS-MBS live-action drama series “Yareta Kamo Iinkai.” The drama series is based on manga “Yareta kamo Iinkai” by Takashi Yoshida and will be directed by Masatoshi Yamaguchi (“Ushijima the Loan Shark“). In the drama series, Jiro Sato, Mai Shiraishi and Takayuki Yamada will play members of the “Yareta Kamo Iinkai” (literally “Could Have Done It Committe”). They listen to stories from visitors and give their opinion on whether that person could have done something or not.

“Yareta Kamo Iinkai” first airs April 22nd on MBS and April 24th on TBS.

Fumino Kimura & Shota Matsuda cast in web drama series “Sick’s Spec Saga”

Fumino Kimura and Shota Matsuda are cast for the lead roles in web drama series “Sick’s Spec Saga.” The web drama series is a sequel to the “SPEC” drama series from TBS. For “Sick’s Spec Saga,” Fumino Kimura plays Shizuru Mikuriya. Her character is extremely smart and graduated from Harvard University, but she is mentally unstable and she hurts herself. Shota Matsuda plays Hiroyo Takakura. He worked as a detective at the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Public Security Bureau. Due to a case related with SPEC holder, he was kicked out of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department Public Security Bureau.

In addition, a 1 minute trailer of “Sick’s Spec Saga” with Fumino Kimura and Shota Matsuda has been added on AsianWiki. “Sick’s Spec Saga” will stream on website Paravi from April 1, 2018 in Japan.
