Yutaka Takenouchi & Yasuko Matsuyuki cast in TV Asahi drama series “Good Partner”

Yutaka Takenouchi & Yasuko Matsuyuki are cast in new TV Asahi drama series “Good Partner: Muteki no Bengoshi.” For actor Yutaka Takenouchi, he last starred in a TV Asahi drama series back in 2006 with “Kazoku.” Also cast in supporting roles for the drama series are Kento Kaku, Ikusaburo Yamazaki, Tetta Sugimoto, Azusa Babazono, Azusa Okamoto, Masako Miyaji, Karen Miyazaki, Koji Ookura and Jun Kunimura.

Premise for the drama series “Good Partner: Muteki no Bengoshi,” has Yutaka Takenouchi and Yasuko Matsuyuki playing a divorced couple who work at the same corporate law firm. “Good Partner: Muteki no Bengoshi” first airs this April in Japan.

Ema Fujisawa to make guest appearance in WOWOW drama series “Kinpika”

Actress Ema Fujisawa is set to make a guest appearance in currently airing WOWOW drama series “Kinpika” starring Kiichi Nakai, Pierre Taki & Yusuke Santamaria. Ema Fujisawa will make her guest appearance in episode 3 of the drama series.

In the drama series, Ema Fujisawa will play Akemi. Her character works at a hostess bar and is the ex-girlfriend of Isao Okawara (Pierre Taki). Ema Fujisawa’s role is a bit of a departure from her past roles of playing sweet, nice girls.

Ep.3 of “Kinpika” airs February 27, 2016 in Japan.

Jun Matsumoto cast in TBS drama series “99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi”

Jun Matsumoto (‘Arashi’) is cast in upcoming TBS drama series “99.9: Keiji Senmon Bengoshi.” Also cast in the law themed drama series are Teruyuki Kagawa, Nana Eikura and Munetaka Aoki. Setup for the drama series has Jun Matsumoto playing a poor criminal attorney. With Japan’s 99.9% conviction rate, the attorney fights for the 0.1%. The attorney then gets scouted by a big law firm and works with an attorney played by Teruyuki Kagawa.

Rena Matsui & Kenichi Takito cast in TBS drama series “Laundry Chigasaki”

Rena Matsui (former member of SKE48) and Kenichi Takito are cast in late night TBS drama series “Laundry Chigasaki.” Premise for the drama series is set at a laundromat with Rena Matsui playing a part-time employee there and Keichi Takito playing the owner of the laundromat. The drama series is directed and written by Ken Iizuka (“Arakawa Under the Bridge“).

“Laundry Chigasaki” first airs March 13, 2016 in Japan.

Singer-songwriter Sakura Fujiwara cast in Fuji TV drama series “Love Song”

Singer-songwriter Sakura Fujiwara is cast in her first acting role as the lead female character in upcoming Fuji TV drama series “Love Song” also starring Masaharu Fukuyama. Sakura Fujiwara made her major label record debut on March 18, 2015 with her mini album “à la carte.”

Sakura Fujiwara received the lead female role of Sakura Sano through an audition which had about 100 other participants. Also cast in supporting roles for the drama series are Kaho, Tetsushi Tanaka, Ryudo Uzaki & Miki Mizuno. Kaho will play Mami who is like Sakura Sano’s (Sakura Fujiwara) older sister. She works at a cabaret club.

Sota Fukushi & Tao Tsuchiya cast in NTV live-action drama series “Omukae Desu”

Sota Fukushi & Tao Tsuchiya are cast in NTV live-action drama series “Omukae Desu.” The drama series is based on manga series “Omukae Desu” by Meka Tanaka. Setup for the unique drama series has Sota Fukushi playing college student Madoka Tsutsumi. His character sees a pink rabbit and an old man fighting and learns from the pink rabbit that the old man is a spirit and the pink rabbit is an angel of death. Meka Tanaka later works with the angel of death to help the deceased overcome their regrets. Tao Tsuchiya plays a senior colleague of Meka Tanaka.

“Omukae Desu” airs April, 2016 in Japan.

Hikari Mitsushima to make guest appearance in Fuji TV drama series “Love That Makes You Cry”

Actress Hikari Mitsushima is set to make a guest appearance in ep.6 of currently airing Fuji TV drama series “Love That Makes You Cry” (English title) starring Kasumi Arimura & Kengo Kora. Hikari Mitsushima already appeared in ep.1, but voice only as Oto Sugihara’s (Kasumi Arimura) late mother. She voiced Oto Sugihara’s mother when Oto Sugihara read her mother’s letter. In ep.6, Hikari Mitsushima will appear in flashback scenes with a child playing the character of Oto Sugihara.

Ep.6 of drama series “Love That Makes You Cry” airs February 22, 2016.

Shota Matsuda cast in live-action TBS drama series “Dias Police” and live-action film “Dias Police”

Actor Shota Matsuda is cast in upcoming live-action TBS drama series “Dias Police: Ihou Keisatsu” and live-action film “Dias Police: Ihou Keisatsu” (working title). Both titles are based on manga series “Dias Police Ihou Keisatsu” written by Takashi Nagasaki. The TBS drama series will be directed by Masanori Tominaga (“The Pavillion Salamandre“), Tetsuya Mariko (“Distraction Babies“), Katsuhito Mogi (assistant director for “Litchi Hikari Club“) and Kazuyoshi Kumakiri (“My Man“). The live-action film will be directed by Kazuyoshi Kumakiri.

Premise for the drama series and film is set in Tokyo among the 150,000 illegals staying in the city. The illegals develop their own bank, hospital and 1 man police force. Shota Matsuda plays Saki Kubozuka. His character is the police officer for the illegals. He tries to take care of the weak and main public order among the illegals. His own nationality and ethnicity is unknown.

TBS drama series “Dias Police: Ihou Keisatsu” will air beginning this April and the live-action film will be released sometime this summer in Japan.

Masaki Okada, Tori Matsuzaka, Yuya Yagira cast in NTV drama series “Yutori Desu ga Nani ka”

Masaki Okada, Tori Matsuzaka & Yuya Yagira are cast in new NTV drama series “Yutori Desu ga Nani ka.” The drama series is scripted by Kankuro Kudo and directed by Nobuo Mizuta. The duo previously collaborated in 2007 film “Maiko haaaan!!!” and 2009 film “No More Cry!!!

Drama series “Yutori Desu ga Nani ka” will follow the lives of three men in their late 20’s and who are a product of the Yutori generation. In the late 1970’s, the Japanese government began implementing a reform of primary school education referred to as Yutori education. The purpose of the reform was to have a stress-free education environment, but critics of the reform point to less competitive and ambitious students.

“Yutori Desu ga Nani ka” first airs this April in Japan.

Mana Ashida and Charlotte Kate Fox cast in Fuji TV drama series “Our House”

Mana Ashida and Charlotte Kate Fox are cast in new Fuji TV drama series “Our House” (working title). In drama series “Our House,” Mana Ashida plays a 12-year-old girl who is second child among 4 siblings. After her mother passed away 6 months ago, the 12-year-old girl is responsible for taking care of the house. Her father then meets an American woman played by Charlotte Kate Fox while working in the U.S. The couple decide to marry almost instantly and he brings her back to Japan. The 12-year-old girl is unhappy to have a new mother and tries to kick her out.

“Our House” will air beginning this April in Japan.
