Marie Iitoyo & Rena Takeda are cast in TBS-MBS sequel drama series “Maji de Koukai Shitemasu: Second Season.” The two young women will reprise their lead roles from 2017 drama series “Maji de Koukai Shitemasu.” For the second season, they work on a car carrier ship. Marin Sakamoto (Marie Iitoyo) works as a third mate and Tsubame Ishikawa (Rena Takeda) works as third engineer. Noboru Iguchi will also return to direct the drama series.

Trailer and poster added for Netflix live-action drama series “Switched” (“Sora wo Kakeru Yodaka”) starring Daiki Shigeoka,Tomohiro Kamiyam, Kaya Kiyohara and Miu Tomita. The drama series is based on manga “Sora wo Kakeru Yodaka” by Shiki Kawabata. Story for “Switched” follow two young men and a young girl who have been friends for years. The young girl inexplicably finds herself switched into the body of an unpopular classmate.

Masaki Aiba is cast in new TV Asahi live-action drama series “Sakanoue Animal Clinic Story.” The drama series is based on manga “Boku to Shippo to Kagurazaka” by Michi Tarasawa. In the drama series, Masaki Aiba will play a veterinarian. He begins work for a veterinarian at an animal hospital in his hometown, but the veterinarian disappears and he becomes in charge of the animal hospital.

Teaser trailer for TBS drama series “Cheer Dance” starring Tao Tsuchiya. The drama series is a sequel/spin-off of 2017 movie “Let’s Go, Jets” which was based on the true story of the “Jets” cheer dance club at Fukui Chuo High School. Actor Joe Odagiri will have play supporting role in the drama series as a teacher and actress Suzu Hirose will make a cameo appearance as Hikari Tomonaga from the movie “Let’s Go, Jets.”

Ryo Yoshizawa cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Giver: Revenge’s Giver” (literal title). The drama series is based on 2016 novel “Giver: Fukushu no Zoyosha” by Sou Hino. Premise for the drama series revolves around a revenge agency who takes revenge on behalf of their clients.

Keiko Kitagawa is cast in movie “Smartphone o Otoshita dake nanoni.” The movie is based on 2017 novel “Sumaho o Otoshita dake” by Akira Shiga and directed by Hideo Nakata. Story for “Smartphone o Otoshita dake nanoni” depicts a nightmare scenario when a smartphone is lost and then found by an unscrupulous individual. Filming for “Smartphone o Otoshita dake nanoni” began June 1, 2018 and finishes July 5, 2018.

Juri Ueno and Naohito Fujiki are cast in Fuji TV drama series “Good Doctor” starring Kento Yamazaki. The drama series is a remake of 2013 KBS2 drama series “Good Doctor” starring Joo Won and Moon Chae-Won. Also cast in supporting roles are Shigeyuki Totsugi, Yuri Nakamura, Kenta Hamano, Itsuji Itao, and Akira Emoto.
In drama series “Good Doctor,” Juri Ueno will play Natsumi Seto. She is a pediatric surgeon with a kind disposition. Naohito Fujiki will play Seiji Takayama. He also works as a pediatric surgeon and has an excellent reputation.

Hiroya Shimizu is cast for the lead role in TV Tokyo live-action drama series “Investor Z.” The drama series is based on manga “Investor Z” by Norifusa Mita. Norifusa Mita also wrote the original manga “Dragon Zakura” which was adapted into TBS drama series “Dragon Zakura” and KBS2 drama series “Master of Study.” Story for “Investor Z” is set at a prestigious school where the school makes money from investments made by its investment club.

Takeru Satoh is cast in TBS live-action drama series “Blues of Stepmother and Daughter” (literal title) starring Haruka Ayase and Yutaka Takenouchi. Takeru Satoh will play Akira Mugita. He doesn’t have any goals in his life. He makes an impact on the family of Akiko Iwaki (Haruka Ayase) and Ryoichi Miyamoto (Yutaka Takenouchi). The drama series is based on manga “Gibo to Musume no Blues” by Rin Sakurazawa
Also cast for supporting roles in the drama series are Naho Yokomizo, Yosuke Kawamura, Mami Hashimoto, Marin, Yoshie Okuyama, Yosuke Asari, Kazuyuki Asano and Yumi Asou. Naho Yokomizo will play the stepdaughter of Akiko Iwaki. She was cast for the role after going through 6 rounds of auditions.

Atsuko Maeda is cast in NHK drama special “Gakko e Ikenakatta Watashi ga (Ano Hana) (Koko Sake) wo Kaku made.” The drama special is based on autobiographical novel “Gakko e Ikenakatta Watashi ga 『Ano Hana』 『Koko Sake』 wo Kaku made” by Mari Okada. Mari Okada has previously written screenplays for movies “The Dark Maidens” and “My Teacher.” For the drama special, Atsuko Maeda will play Mari Okada. She grew up as a hikkimori, but she moves to Tokyo and becomes a screenwriter. Also cast in supporting roles are Shunsuke Daito, Kenta Hamano, Mijika Nagai and Yoichi Nukumizu.
