Masaki Suda is cast in upcoming NTV drama series “Pretty Proofreader” (“Jimi ni Sugoi!”) starring Satomi Ishihara. The drama series is based on 2014 novel “Koetsu Garu” by Ayako Miyagi.
In the drama series, Masaki Suda will play Yukito Orihara. His character is a mysterious college student that Etsuko ([[Satomi Ishihara]]) begins to like on first sight. He hides his real identity, but he is a writer. The two character become involved through editing of a novel.
“Pretty Proofreader” will be released this October in South Korea.
Taisuke Fujigaya (‘Kis-My-Ft.2’) & Mizuki Yamamoto are cast in new Fuji TV drama series “Basuke mo Koi mo, Shiteitai.” In the drama series, Taisuke Fujigaya plays high school basketball player Tomomitsu Tsuchiya and Mizuki Yamamoto plays high school student Sae Hatori. Tomomitsu Tsuchiya notices Sae Hatori watching him during practice. They develop a friendship and begin to date. Suddenly, Sae Hatori transfers to another school without saying a word.
“Basuke mo Koi mo, Shiteitai” consists of three episodes and episode 1 will air September 19, 2016 in Japan.
Nao Matsushita and Hayato Ichihara are cast in TBS drama special “Oufuku Shokan.” The drama special is based on 2010 novel “Oufuku Shokan” by Kanae Minato (“Confessions“).
In the upcoming drama special, Nao Matsushita plays OL Mariko Okano and Hayato Ichihara plays her boyfriend Junichi Nagata. Mariko Okano learns that her boyfriend has volunteered to teach children in a developing country and he won’t return for 2 years. He didn’t tell her about his plans before leaving and they can only communicate through letters. Meanwhile, a burned body is discovered at a warehouse and a detective (Takeshi Kaga) investigates.
“Oufuku Shokan” airs September 30, 2016 in Japan.
Takanori Iwata (‘J Soul Brothers’/‘EXILE’) is cast in upcoming TBS drama series “Suna no Tou” starring Miho Kanno and Nanako Matsushima.
In the upcoming drama series, Takanori Iwata will play 28-year-old Kohei Ubukata. He works as a gym teacher and one of his students is the daughter of Aki Takano’s (Miho Kanno). Kohei Ubukata and Aki Takano grew up in the same neighborhood and he has liked Aki Takano since that time. He supports Aki Takano during her troubles with her neighbors, but he also has a hidden side.
“Suna no Tou” first airs this October in Japan.
Yuji Oda & Tao Tsuchiya are cast in new TBS drama series “IQ246.” Also cast in supporting roles are Dean Fujioka & Miki Nakatani.
In the drama series “IQ246,” Yuji Oda plays Sharaku Homonji. He is the eldest son from the Homonji family. The family is well known for studying crime for generations. The eldest son from the Homonji family has traditionally held an IQ of 246 and Sharaku Homonji possess an IQ of 246. Tao Tsuchiya plays Soko Wato. Her character is assigned to the investigation section #1 team, but rather than investigating cases she is tasked with escorting Sharaku Homonji.
“IQ246” first airs this October in Japan.
Machiko Ono is cast in upcoming TV Asahi drama SP “Sogeki.” Also cast in the drama special are Sadao Abe & Koichi Sato. The drama special is based on 2010 novel “Sogeki Chika Sosakan” by Shunsuke Nagase. In the drama series, Machiko Ono will play Detective Ryoko Kozuki. Her character recently received a demotion for having an affair with a superior. She then takes on the case “The Prime Ministerial Candidate Snipe Case” which occured 15 years earlier.
“Sogeki” will air sometime this autumn in Japan.
Kentaro Sakaguchi is cast in upcoming TV Tokyo drama SP “Mohouhan” starring Miki Nakatani. The drama special is based on novel “Mohouhan” by Miyuki Miyabe which was previously adapted into 2002 film “Copycat Killer.”
In the upcoming 2 episode drama SP, Kentaro Sakaguchi will play Koichi Amikawa (Peace). His character holds a key to the story. It’s also the first time Kentaro Sakaguchi will portray a villain.
Ep.1 of “Mohouhan” will air September 21, 2016 and ep.2 will air September 22, 2016 in Japan.
Yuki Amami is cast in new Fuji TV drama series “Chef: Mitsuboshi no Kyushoku.” The drama series is scripted by Hideya Hamada (“Absolute Zero: Special Investigation Unit“) and directed by Shin Hirano & Ryo Tanaka.
In the drama series “Chef: Mitsuboshi no Kyushoku,” Yuki Amami plays Paris trained chef Mitsuko Hoshino. She gets fired from her job as a chef at a 3 star French restaurant in Ginza and eventually works on a TV program centered around school meals.
“Chef: Mitsuboshi no Kyushoku” first airs this October in Japan.
Fumino Kimura & Munetaka Aoki are cast in WOWOW drama series “Suisho no Kodo.” The drama series is a sequel to 2015 WOWOW drama series “Stone’s Cocoon” and based on 2014 novel “Suisho no Kodo Keishicho Satsujin Bunsekihan” by Kazushi Asami. Also cast in the drama series are Ikkei Watanabe, Toshiyuki Kitami, Yu Koyanagi & Takahiro Fujimoto.
Story for “Suisho no Kodo” takes place one year after WOWOW drama series “Stone’s Coccoon.” Toko Kisaragi (Fumino Kimura) and Hideaki Takano (Munetaka Aoki) investigate a new murder case. When they realize they are being followed by a man, they chase after him .. but a building nearby explodes.
“Suisho no Kodo” will first air November 13, 2016 in Japan.
Gen Hoshino is cast in upcoming live-action TBS drama series “We Married as Job” co-starring Yui Aragaki. “We Married as Job” is based on manga series “Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku ni Tatsu” by Tsunami Umino.
In the drama series, Gen Hoshino will play lead male character Hiramasa Tsuzaki. His character has never had a girlfriend and he works for an IT company. He accepts an offer from Mikuri Moriyama’s (Yui Aragaki) to marry. She works for him as a housekeeper.
