Yuma Nakayama (‘NYC’) is cast in new WOWOW drama series “Hokuto.” The drama series is based on 2012 novel “Hokuto Aru Satsujinsha no Kaishin” by Ira Ishida (“Ikebukuro West Gate Park“) and directed by Tomoyuki Takimoto (“Brain Man“).
For the drama series, Yuma Nakayama will play main character Hokuto Hashizume. His character was abused by his parents as a child and he never felt loved. As a teen, he moves out of a children’s home and to a home with his new foster mother Ayako Kondo. There, he feels loved for the first time, but he later becomes a murderer. During filming of the drama series, Yuma Nakayama dropped 12 kilograms to portray his character.
“Hokuto” first airs March, 2017 in Japan.
Minami Hamabe is cast in live-action TBS drama series “Saki” and live-action film version “Saki.” Both versions are based on manga series “Saki” by Ritz Kobayashi and will be directed by Yuichi Onuma. In the drama series and movie, Minami Hamabe will play main character Saki Miyanaga. Her character is a high school student. Saki Miyanaga and other students become fascinated by the game of mahjong. They target an upcoming national mahjong competition.
Drama series “Saki” will air on TBS and MBS this December and the movie version will open February, 2017 in Japan.
Shinichi Tsutsumi & Kyoko Koizumi are cast in live-action NTV drama series “Super Salaryman Mr. Saenai.” The drama series is based on manga series “Chunen Supaman Saenai si” by Fujiko F. Fujio and directed by Yuichi Fukuda (“33 Minute Detective“/”HK: Forbidden Super Hero“).
In drama series “Super Salaryman Mr. Saenai,” Shinichi Tsutsumi plays main character Mr. Saenai. He works as a regular salaryman and has a wife (Kyoko Koizumi) and two kids. Things turn unregular, when he crosses paths with an old man that makes him put on a super suit with super human powers.
“Super Salaryman Mr. Saenai” first airs this January in Japan.
Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (‘SMAP’) is cast in new Fuji TV drama series “Uso no Senso.” The drama series will reunite Tsuyoshi Kusanagi with director Yoshishige Miyake and screenwriter Noriko Goto. They worked together last year in Fuji TV drama series “War of Money.”
In drama series “Uso no Senso,” Tsuyoshi Kusanagi will play a swindler named Koichi. He returns to Japan to take revenge on a person who killed his family many years ago. The person also framed Koichi’s father as the killer.
“Uso no Senso” first airs January, 2017 in Japan.
Kanata Hongo is cast in live-action Fuji TV drama series “Love Concierge” (“Love Hotel no Ueno-san”). The drama series is based on manga series “Rabuho no Ueno-san” by Ueno and Hakase.
In the upcoming drama series, Kanata Hongo will play main character Mr. Ueno. He works as a concierge at the love hotel “Gotanda Kingdom” and helps people with issues about love.
“Love Concierge” will stream on Fuji TV FOD from December 1, 2016 and air on Fuji TV from January, 2017 on Wednesdays.
Rina Kawaei, Kana Kurashina, Shihori Kanjiya, Sei Matobu, Yuriko Ono and Akane Hotta are cast in Fuji TV TWO drama series “Kanjo Hachi Gosen.” The drama series consists of 6 stories/episodes with each of the ladies starring in an individual episode. Their stories are also connected. Screenplay is based on novel “Kanjo Hachi Gosen” by Tomomi Hatano (published October, 2015 by Shodensha).

Teaser poster added for upcoming WOWOW drama series “Rakuen” starring Yukie Nakama. Drama series is based on 2007 novel “Rakuen” by Miyuki Miyabe.
In addition, supporting cast members for the drama series has been revealed. Supporting cast members announced include Hitomi Kuroki, Kaho, Kaoru Kobayashi, Miyuki Matsuda, Nobuaki Kaneko, Koji Ishizaka, Naomi Nishida, Masahiro Komoto, Shugo Oshinari & Tomoya Maeno.

Ryo Matsuda, Shuto Miyazaki (‘Unknown Number!!!’), Shintaro Anzai, Tomoru Akazawa, Hisanori Sato, Ren Ozawa, Mario Kuroba, Ryousuke Ikeoka and Tomoki Hirose are all cast in upcoming NTV drama series “Dansui!” The drama series is based on webcomic “Dansui!” by Tatsuya Kiuchi. Story for “Dansui!” revolves around a high school male swimming club with only 3 members. The 3 members attempt to recruit more members.

Manami Higa is cast in upcoming WOWOW drama series “Honjitsu wa, Ohigara mo Yoku.” Also cast in the drama series are Kyoko Hasegawa, Dai Watanabe, Mokomichi Hayami & Renji Ishibashi. The drama series is based on novel 2010 novel “Honjitsu wa, Ohigara mo Yoku” by Maha Harada. Drama series has Manami Higa playing main character Kotoha Ninomiya. She deals with a transfer from general affairs to the PR department at a confection company. In addition, the man she holds secret feelings for and she has known for years is now getting married to another woman. At his wedding ceremony, she becomes inspired by a speech writer.
“Honjitsu wa, Ohigara mo Yoku” will first air January 14, 2017 in Japan.
Nao Matsushita is cast in Fuji TV drama SP “Tokumei Shikikan Goma Ayaka.” Also cast in the drama special are Ryohei Suzuki, Goro Inagaki, Yuya Uchida, Masanobu Takashima, Kohei Otomo, Mackenyu & Naoto Takenaka. The drama special is based on 2014 novel “Keishicho Sosa Nika Goma Ayaka Tokumei Shikikan” by Masashi Kajinaga.
In “Tokumei Shikikan Goma Ayaka,” Nao Matsushita will play Ayaka Goma. She works as a police sergeant. During a demonstration, a hostage situation takes place at financial company. A person then calls the police and asks for Ayaka Goma to come to the crime scene to negotiate.
