Mei Nagano is cast in NHK’s 98th asadora “Half, Blue”

Mei Nagano is cast in upcoming NHK’s 98th asadora “Half, Blue” (“Hanbun, Aoi”). The early morning drama series will air from April 2, 2018 through September 29, 2018. Mei Nagano went through auditions involving 2366 participants and was eventually selected to play main character Suzume Nireno. The drama series will follow a young woman who leaves her hometown to become a cartoonist in Tokyo, but eventually returns to her hometown divorced and with a daughter.

Supporting cast and visual poster for TBS drama series “Maji de Koukai Shitemasu”

Main visual and supporting cast added for upcoming TBS-MBS drama series “Maji de Koukai Shitemasu” starring Marie Iitoyo and Rena Takeda. Now cast in supporting roles are Dori Sakurada, Yuhi (‘Boys and Men’), Yuki Izawa and Keita Ikemoto. The four newly announced supporting actors will play characters who team up with Marin Sakamoto (Marie Iitoyo) and Tsubame Ishikawa (Rena Takeda) in a training program for potential ship navigators. Also cast in the drama series are Keisuke Horibe, Yoichi Nukumizu, Kohki Okada and Seiko Iwaido.

For “Maji de Koukai Shitemasu,” Dori Sakurada will play Yamato Yagi. His character has a shy personality. Yuhi will play Arata Narumi. He likes to flex his muscles. Yuki Izawa will play Kensuke Kogure. He is 25-years-old and married. Lastly, Keita Ikemoto will play Shotaro Yamada. He is intelligent.

“Maji de Koukai Shitemasu” will first air July 2nd on MBS and July 4th on TBS in Japan.

Shun Oguri cast in TV Asahi drama special “Border 2” and teaser trailer

Shun Oguri is cast in TV Asahi drama special “Border 2.” The 1 episode drama special is a sequel to 2014 TV Asahi drama series “Border.” Also set to return to their respective supporting roles are Munetaka Aoki, Haru, Arata Furuta, Kenichi Takito, Kenta Hamano, Toru Nomaguchi, Kenichi Endo and Nao Omori. Story for “Border 2”  will continue from “Border,” centering main character Ango Ishikawa (Shun Oguri). Ango Ishikawa is a detective able to see the dead.

“Border 2” will air sometime later this year in Japan.

Nijiro Murakami is cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Dead Stock”

Nijiro Murakami is cast in TV Tokyo drama series “Dead Stock.” This will be Nijiro Murakami’s first time playing a lead character in a drama series. In the drama series “Dead Stock,” Nijiro Murakami will play Riku Tsuneta. He gets hired as a rookie AD at broadcasting station and is assigned to work through old material the TV station. Riku Tsuneta then uncovers footage of an unnatural phenomenon.

“Dead Stock” first airs July 21, 2017 in Japan.

Trailer for movie “Hello, Goodbye”

Trailer added for upcoming movie “Hello, Goodbye” starring Minori Hagiwara, Sayu Kubota and Masako Motai. Movie is the second film directed by Takeo Kikuchi (“Dear Deer“). Story for “Hello Goodbye” follows two troubled female teenagers. The two girls are not friends, but they meet an elderly woman and eventually try to find her first love for her.

“Hello, Goodbye” had its world premiere in the Japanese Cinema Splash section of the 2016 Tokyo International Film Festival and will have its general release July 15, 2017.

Jun Matsumoto, Teruyuki Kagawa & Fumino Kimura cast in TBS drama series “99.9 Criminal Lawyer Season II”

Jun Matsumoto, Teruyuki Kagawa & Fumino Kimura are cast in new TBS drama series “99.9 Criminal Lawyer Season II.” Jun Matsumoto and Teruyuki Kagawa will reprise their respective lead male character roles from season 1 of “99.9 Criminal Lawyer.” Fumino Kimura will play new lead female character Maiko Ozaki. Her character is a former criminal court judge. Due to a case, she quit her job and stayed away from the law field. To help a friend, she visits Madarame Law Firm. There, Atsuhiro Sada (Teruyuki Kagawa) asks Maiko Ozaki to work at their law firm and she accepts.

“99.9 Criminal Lawyer Season II” first airs January, 2018 in Japan.

Kie Kitano cast in live-action dTV drama series “Gintama: Mitsuba hen”

Kie Kitano is cast in upcoming live-action dTV drama series “Gintama: Mitsuba hen” co-starring Shun Oguri, Ryo Yoshizawa, Yuya Yagira & Kankuro Nakamura. The drama series is based on manga series “Gintama” by Hideaki Sorachi and will be directed by Yuichi Fukuda. In the upcoming 3 episode drama series, Kie Kitano will play Mitsuba Okita. She is the older sister of Sogo Okita (Ryo Yoshizawa) and has feelings for Toshiro Hijikata (Yuya Yagira).

“Gintama: Mitsuba hen” first airs July 15, 2017 and live-action film “Gintama” will be released July 14, 2017 in Japan.

Teaser poster for TV Tokyo-Netflix drama series “Saboriman Kantarou”

Here’s a teaser poster for upcoming TV Tokyo-Netflix drama series “Saboriman Kantarou” starring Matsuya Onoe. In addition, Ren Ishikawa and Sarutoki Minagawa have been announced as supporting actors in the drama series. Ren Ishikawa will play Kanako Dobashi. She is a colleague of Kantarou Ametani (Matsuya Onoe) at a publishing company. Sarutoki Minagawa will play Toru Miyake. He is a sales manager.

The drama series will premiere July 7, 2017 on Netflix and July 13, 2017 on TV Tokyo.

Mitsuki Takahata cast in NTV drama series “Kahogo no Kahoko”

Mitsuki Takahata is cast in new NTV drama series “Kahogo no Kahoko.” Also cast in supporting roles are Hitomi Kuroki and Saburo Tokito. The drama series is based on an original screenplay by Kazuhiko Yukawa. Drama series follows 21-year-old university student Kahoko Nemoto (Mitsuki Takahata). Her mother does everything for her. She then meets someone who grew up totally different from her.
