Nao Matsushita is cast in Fuji TV drama SP “Tokumei Shikikan Goma Ayaka.” Also cast in the drama special are Ryohei Suzuki, Goro Inagaki, Yuya Uchida, Masanobu Takashima, Kohei Otomo, Mackenyu & Naoto Takenaka. The drama special is based on 2014 novel “Keishicho Sosa Nika Goma Ayaka Tokumei Shikikan” by Masashi Kajinaga.
In “Tokumei Shikikan Goma Ayaka,” Nao Matsushita will play Ayaka Goma. She works as a police sergeant. During a demonstration, a hostage situation takes place at financial company. A person then calls the police and asks for Ayaka Goma to come to the crime scene to negotiate.

Ryohei Suzuki, Atsuko Maeda & Takahiro Miura are cast in new NTV/WOWOW/Hulu drama series “Inspector Zenigata.” Main character Koichi Zenigata played by Ryohei Suzuki originates from popular manga series “Lupin Sansei” by Monkey Punch, but the screenplay will tell an original story. In the upcoming drama series, Atsuko Maeda will play Natsuki Sakuraba and Takahiro Miura will play Shintaro Kunikida.
“Inspector Zenigata” will first air on NTV and then continue on WOWOW and Hulu next year in Japan.
Kou Shibasaki is cast in new TV Asahi drama special “Ice on the Tracks” (literal title). The drama special is based on the 2016 novel “Koori no Wadachi” by Shino Sakuragi and directed by Tomoyuki Takimoto.
In “Ice on the Tracks,” Kou Shibasaki will play a detective with a secret about her birth. Meanwhile, two old men’s bodies are found. Their seems unrelated, but the detective makes a connection.
“Ice on the Tracks” will air November 5, 2016 in Japan.
Yukie Nakama is cast in new WOWOW drama series “Rakuen.” The drama series is based on the 2007 novel of same name by “Miyuki Miyabe.” In the drama series, Yukie Nakama will play Shigeko Maehata. She works a for a small editing company. She becomes involved with a case involving a couple that murdered their teenage daughter and buried her under their house for 16 years.
“Rakuen” first airs January, 2017 in Japan.
Tsubasa Honda is cast in upcoming NTV drama series “Pretty Proofreader” starring Satomi Ishihara & Masaki Suda. For the drama series, Tsubasa Honda plays Toyoko Morio. Her character was a junior of Etsuko (Satomi Ishihara) back in high school, but she now works as an editor of a fashion magazine.
Also cast in supporting roles are Munetaka Aoki, Goro Kishitani, Masato Wada, Noriko Eguchi, Hiromasa Taguchi & Rika Adachi.

Rin Takanashi is cast in upcoming Hulu drama series “Daisho” co-starring Shun Oguri. In the online streaming drama series, Rin Takanashi will play lead female character Makoto Shiraishi. She has as a strong sense of justice and works as an attorney. Makoto Shiraishi works at her father’s law office with her fiance Keisuke (Shun Oguri). Something about Keisuke gives Makoto Shiraishi strange vibes and she begins to investigate into his past. She feels fear and insecurity.
“Daisho” will begin to stream on Hulu sometime this autumn in Japan and USA.
Yuriko Yoshitaka is cast in upcoming live-action NTV drama series “Tokyo Tarareba Musume.” The drama series is based on manga “Tokyo Tarareba Musume” by Akiko Higashimura and screenplay by Yuko Matsuda (“Gokusen“). In the upcoming drama series, Yuriko Yoshitaka plays Rinko Kamata – a single woman in her 30’s. She works as a not so successful screenwriter. While she meets with her two girlfriends regularly at a bar, she goes over what if scenarios with her life. She decides to go after happiness in love and work.
“Tokyo Tarareba Musume” will first air beginning this January in Japan.
Fumi Nikaido is cast in NTV drama special “Teacher Gappa” (literal title of “Gappa Sensei”). Also cast for the drama special in supporting roles are Kentaro Sakaguchi, Takuro Ohno, Sadao Abe & Kayoko Kishimoto. The drama special will have Fumi Nikaido playing a 24-year-old rookie teacher from the countryside, teaching at an elementary school in the city.
“Teacher Gappa” opens September 23, 2016 in Japan.
Shun Oguri is cast in new Hulu drama series “Daisho.” The online streaming drama series is based on 2014 novel “Daisho” by Shun Ioka. In the upcoming drama series, Shun Oguri plays main character Keisuke Okuyama. His character is an attorney. He then receives a letter from a woman asking him to defend her stepson who is also a friend from Keisuke Okuyama’s dark past that he has forgotten. The stepson is accused of murder and burglary. Also cast in the drama series are Tsutomu Takahashi, Reiko Kataoka, Mitsuru Hirata, Ryo Ishibashi, Yasushi Fuchikami, Elisa Yanagi & Shuntaro Yanagi.
“Daisho” will be available to stream through Hulu Japan sometime this fall.
Ryosuke Yamada (‘Hey! Say! JUMP’) is cast in new Fuji TV drama series “Cain and Abel.” For the upcoming drama series, Ryosuke Yamada will play main character Yu Takada. While growing up, his father always favored his smarter older brother and Yu Takada has been seeking his father’s affection ever since. One day, he meets a woman that he develops feelings for … but he learns that she is his older brother’s girlfriend.
