Marie Iitoyo & Rena Takeda are cast in new TBS-MBS drama series “Maji de Koukai Shitemasu.” The drama series will be directed by Noboru Iguchi. The drama series will follow two young women who take part in a grueling one month training program to become ship navigators.

Masataka Kubota is cast in live-action Fuji TV drama series “We Did It” (literal title of “Boku-tachi ga Yarimashita”). For the drama series, Masataka Kubota will play main character Tobio Masubuchi. Also cast in supporting roles are Mei Nagano, Mackenyu, Shotaro Mamiya, Shono Hayama, Hiroki Konno, Rina Kawaei, Sae Okazaki, Itsuji Itao, Ikue Sakakibara, Asami Mizukawa, Shohei Miura and Arata Furuta. The drama series is based on manga “Boku-tachi ga Yarimashita” by Muneyuki Kaneshiro.

Yoko Maki is cast in new Fuji TV drama series “Cecile’s Plot” (literal title). Also cast in supporting roles are Michiko Kichise, Ayumi Ito, Yuka Itaya and Kyoko Hasegawa. The drama series is based on novel “Sesiru no Mokuromi” by Kei Yuikawa. Story for “Cecile’s Plot” follows housewife Nao Miyaji (Yoko Maki). She is content with her life, but her life changes after being scouted as a reader model for fashion magazine Vogue.

Arata Furuta & Eiko Koike are cast in new TV Tokyo drama series “Shimokitazawa Die Hard.” The drama series will feature 11 different episodes written by 11 different screenwriters and consisting of different cast members, but have Arata Furuta & Eiko Koike appearing throughout the series. In the drama series, Eiko Koike will play a snack bar owner in the Tokyo neighborhood of Shimokitazawa. Arata Furuta will play a regular customer at the snack bar. These two will tell 11 stories about the worst day in the lives of people in the Shimokitazawa area.

Miki Nakatani is cast in new WOWOW drama series “Kataomoi.” The drama series is based on 2001 novel “Kataomoi” by Keigo Higashino. In the drama series, Miki Nakatani will play Mitsuki Hiura. Her character was a former manager for an American-style university football team. During the team’s reunion, teammates and former staff members learn she now lives as a man and she confesses to having killed someone.
“Kataomoi” first airs sometime during autumn, 2017 in Japan.
Teppei Arita and Tsubasa Honda are cast in live-action TBS drama series “Wanitokagegisu.” The drama series is based on manga “Wanitokagegisu” by Minoru Furuya. It’s the first time Teppei Arita from comedy duo ‘Cream Stew’ will play a lead character in a drama series.

Atsushi Ito & Yua Shinkawa are cast in NTV drama series “Nou ni Sumaho ga Umerareta.” The unusual premise for the drama series has Atsuhi Ito playing main character Keita Orimo. He works at a an apparel company and carries a flip phone. One day, his brain picks up smartphone like abilities and he can see things like text message balloons flying by. With his new abilities, he gets involved with problems at work. Yua Shinkawa will play Yanako Ishino. She works as a contract pattern maker at the same apparel company.

Emi Takei is cast in upcoming TV Asahi drama series “Black Leather Notebook” (literal title). The drama series is based on 1983 novel “Kurokawa no Techo” by Seicho Matsumoto. TV Asahi previously adapted the novel into 2004 drama series “Black Leather Notebook” starring Ryoko Yonekura. In drama series “Black Leather Notebook,” Emi Takei will play main character Motoko Haraguchi. Her character embezzles 180 million yen from a bank to open a nightclub in Ginza.

Matsuya Onoe is cast in TV Tokyo-Netflix live-action drama series “Saboriman Kantarou.” The drama series is based on manga series “Saboriman Ametani Kantarou” by Tensei Hagiwara & Abidi Inoue. Story for “Saboriman Kantarou” follows salesman Kantarou Ametani played by Matsuya Onoe. While he does his job well, he secretly skips out on his job to go eat sweets. It’s also Matsuya Onoe’s first time to act for a lead role in a drama series.

Sota Fukushi and Haruna Kawaguchi are cast in new NTV drama series “I Love You, But I Have a Secret” (literal title of “Aishite tatte, Himitsu wa Aru”). The drama series is based on an original screenplay by Sayaka Kuwamura (“A Girl & Three Sweethearts“) and directed by Hayato Kawai. Story for the drama has Sota Fukushi playing law school student Rei Okumori. He holds a dark secret which is that he killed his father who was abusive to his mother. He meets Sawa Tachibana (Haruna Kawaguchi) at his law school and wants to marry her, but he begins to receive messages from someone that knows his secret. Honami Suzuki will play Rei’s mother Akiko Okumori and Kenichi Endo will play the father of Sawa Tachibana who is a lead public prosecutor.
